What is the worst public computer that you have used or saw someone still using in 2002-2005? Worst is anything slower than a 450MHZ (a PII)or with some dismally low amount of RAM ( <64 MB ).

People at my school are still using PI's at 233MHz, with Windows 95 and 32MB RAM

Till last year, the terminal boxes in the classrooms were 486s with 8 megs of ram running windows 95 and Microsoft Terminal Server.

Since a terminal doesn't use it's own CPU, it doesn't really count.

It's completely normal to throw up a 2000$ Dual-CPU terminal server with a load of ram to use a bunch of 486es as network booting clients. Saves lots of money and the users get the normal 1GHz+ power.

I know and I agree, cause all the terminals were free from government offices but this is about public computers, and the terminals are public so whatever.

At my old highschool, they were using Pentium 90MHz machines with 16MB RAM when I left 2 years ago. Probably still have 'em now. I had to use those goddamn things for every one of my computer-related classes and damn did they suck. Brutally, obscenely slow and crashing at least 2-3 times per class. That's what you get when trying to run modern software on computers that old.

There were only 3 or 4 "good" public computers, one was a PIII 900Mhz in my programming class (which was fought over every day) and the others were 450MHz machines in the library for special projects. Everything else was the old P90's

EDIT: Back in middle school we were still using 8086s with monochrome screens up until '98.

Yeah, I forgot about the old MacCrap from the late 80's and early 90's. Grade 9 computers was with a bunch of the early PowerPC's. 80Mhz and with maybe 8 MB Ram. God, they were crap. It took 15 seconds for Google to load. And they ere held together with duct tape Ugh...

Then there are those PowerPC's that are the all in ones. Enough said...ick.

My brother got to throw some into the back of a truck that was taking them to where they belong (the dump). He said the cases shattered upon impact and the hard drives broke really easily.
