Damn Gateway fools! < on 11/24/2005 2:22 AM > | Reply with Quote
In my search for a BIOS update for my desktop, I called Gateway today. Mind you, I would never buy a Gateway product. EVER. I own an eMachines T3065, one of the better computers eMachines put out - right before they were bought by Gateway.
So here's the conversation:
Me: Hello, I'd like to know where I can get a BIOS udate utility compatible with my T3065.
Rep: Sir, would you be interested in upgrading your RAM today, from your current 512mb to a higher 1024mb?
Me: Uhhhh... no. I already did that.
Rep: Well, BIOS upgrades are a complex process that should only be performed by trained technicians.
Me: I'm no trained technician, but I've updated BIOS's before. It's not that hard.
Rep: We don't offer BIOS updates. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
Me: What if you were to provide me with the utility... so that I could hold on to it and then delete it. You know, I wouldn't use it or anything.
Rep: Sir, you'll have to sweet talk the BIOS manufacturer into providing you with an update, but it most likely won't be compatible.
Me: Thank You Sir, for all of the help which you Hath Provided me With.

lol!
That's so sad and yet amazingly not surprising. I do remember being able to get my hands on a bios update with our old Gateway of the Gateway website but that was way back in the day when Windows 95 was the operating system of choice and 64 megs of ram was considered a lot.
