Coverting a video's audio format...

So I got a Creative Zen Vision a couple of months ago. It works great... except for it's buggy firmware, Creative's lack of support and it's incompatibility with many formats.

But all quirks aside, it's a great player, but the format incompatibility is what's getting me. I download movies all the time from various torrents and, unfortunately, I'm often left with a video that won't play on my player. Namely, it doesn't support AC3 audio.

My question: Where can I find a good (and free!) utility that will allow me to convert just the audio portion of my video files? Yes Beryl, I tried google... to no avail. Everything I get is either not free, doesn't do what I want or is really crappy.

Any ideas?

p.s.- Does anybody know of any good free video converters for that odd occasion in which it doesn't support a video format? Thanks!

don't know of any free format converters offhand, but why not use vlc as a player? comes with its own codecs.... haven't yet found anything that it won't play. It's also cross-platform... available for Windows/Linux/BeOS and a ton of others as well.

Available from http://www.videolan.org

VLC is amazing... but this thing is an portable media player. Getting the videos to work on it is key.

I got a converter, forgot the name of it... it works, but its slow.

If you can remember the name of it, please be sure to post it here, eh?
