Zidane with all music done by Mogwai.
Also the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack is superbadass.

I quite like the soundtrack to Dr. Horrible. Not sure if that counts as a movie, though.

it counts...i'm basing that on the fact that every time i watch it, i end up singing the soundtrack in the shower for like a week!

Sorcerer -- Tangerine Dream

The Hatchet Murders -- Goblin

You rock! Sorcerer is one of my favorites. They actually composed the soundtrack only from reading a script. They never saw any actual footage (presumably they saw it after release). The original tape they sent to Friedkin was 90 minutes, so there's still 45 minutes or so laying around somewhere that was never used or released. I've also used several tracks from it as the soundtrack to my UE videos.

Goblin's actually done several soundtracks, including Dawn of the Dead, and were a fairly popular prog-rock band in Italy in the '70s and '80s. When they broke up, one them went on to do more soundtracks.
