Anyone else really into Henry Rollins? Not just in Black Flag and Rollins Band, (and S.O.A.) but his spoken word and writing as well? I find it all really inspiring and somewhat life changing. and on a semi-related note, anyone really into old D.C. hardcore esp. Dischord stuff?

yeah bry, im into rollins, seen his spoken word a handful of times, cracks me up every fuckin time.read a few of his books, ive seen him play only, i think, three times. but im also into older dc hardcore/punk as well old/semi-new dischord... teen idols, soa, govt issue, minor threat, fugazi, rites of spring, youth brigade, gray matter, dag nasty, lungfish. i cant stand the newer dischord stuff.
i went to two shows in dc in the past two weeks, good shit. i reckon DC's scene is starting to come back to life. i havent been to a show with that much of a postive vibe in dc in almost 10 years or so. ehh got a little of subject...

You shake my hand, say “pleased to meet you.” Look me in the eye, I don’t believe you. TUI, as long as I’m still alive. I live despite you. Realize I’m not one of your kind, I’m nothing like you.

He rocked with Black Flag. Not much into his spoken word stuff personally.

I'm probably the opposite of most people in that I totally dig his spoken word stuff, and can't stand his music (aside from black flag). I just watched "shock & awe" for the first time a few weeks ago and was laughing so hard during the whole 'dating in los angeles' bit I was crying.

Iam a HUGE fan of Black Flag, punk and hardcore. I have "Get In The Van" on cassette. Pretty awesome stuff. There is a book called "American Hardcore" by Steven Blush about all of the bands from that time. Well, they are making a movie about it and Rollins has a few interviews in there, it looks good. The only problem is that it's out on Sony which kind of defeats the purpose. http://www.sonycla.../americanhardcore/
