As I mentioned in my introduction to this private board, I am not a code guy by any means. I have managed to get this up and running via Dreamweaver 8 and GoLive CS 2. I want to create a message board for the members of my cycling team to post weekend race results, race photos, and to organize training rides. It only needs to be a very simple system, nothing near the caliber of this site. Without doing the hard coding, or at least very minimal, myself, can anyone point me in the right direction. I have created a form, but need a database ... I think. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

of the two forums crazy posted, simple machines is more controllable and less buggy, but also has a lot of features you may not use. phpBB re-linked me to Microsoft's homepage whenever it couldn't perform an action which was very often. The only pro phpBB has over simple machines is that it has integration for gallery, but the integration is poor, and there is a beta integration for simple machines that can be found here.

EDIT: Don't use coppermine, I'll spare you the trouble of setting it up and finding out how terrible it is....

Most do, it's just a matter of changing the permissions in the admin panel.

ok, so I chose to start with simplemachines.org. I was successful at setting it up. I have logged in, changed a board title, logged out, logged in as another user, but when I click on the new board I created (the only one shown) I get a SQL syntax error. When I browse as a guest, it shows up fine.

www.monstrhealthcare.com ----> message board, feel free to create an account. Try and click on 'Monstr Race Reports' as a guest and as a registered user.

Thanks a ton guys, it was relatively easy to set-up, especially for someone of my admin level. I still want to create a link on the forum to go back to the homepage, and I need to change the color scheme, maybe add the team logo and whatnot. Any suggestions on how to do go about that are needed also. Usually if there is an index.html doc, I can do it, but this php thing is greek to me.

thanks again for all of your help

There should bew an option in the control panel. I would avoid modding the PHP file at all cost, unless you knew what you were doing.

I don't know about the SQL error, I'm new to all of this as well, but if you want to implement the board into an html or php page, here is a good place to start.

You can also get many themes, or make on of your own(if you can, I can't at my skill level... *yet*)
