I was reading the local paper and noticed in the "weekly demo" column that Clarington is planning on demolishing two buildings on Boulton Street in Bond Head (just south of Newcastle). The addresses are 11 and 19. 11 is old and run down but 19 looks positively worth saving. I looked inside and all the belongings of the residents were gone.

Did they look old Fedge? Any interesting architectural designs?

11 looks maybe 1960s at the oldest while 19 looks like it could have been built in the last 20 years.

They're still standing, though #11 shows signs of wall siding having been removed (looted?)...

I could be wrong but #11 looks like the power is still connected. Maybe this could be the start of a renovation?

Interesting to watch.

I know they're "just houses", but it's this aspect of UE I'm fascinated with - the human angle.



I'm not sure if this made it to the online version but this was the cover pic to the July 26 issue of Canadian Statesman...

I dont feel very connected to the place i live now but i would find it difficult watching them destroy the house that i grew up in.

I saw that too...kinda chilling when you consider the human element.
