One of my fave record labels is Barsuk (home at one time or another to Rilo Kiley, Death CAb For Cutie, Nada Surf and others). They just signed Smoosh, a sister team consisting of Asya (keyboards, vocals) and Chloe (drums). It was only after I listened to their song Find A Way that I discovered they are only 12 and 14 years old, respectively. They've already toured North America and Europe with Jimmy Eat World, The Go! Team, and Mates of State, and they've played around the U.S. with Rilo Kiley, Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Sleater-Kinney, and Cat Power (the latter of whom paid tribute to Smoosh by including a lip-sync performance of one of their songs in her live set).

They're on tour now and hit Toronto on June 17. Their album (their second!) hits stores June 6.
