Massive pillars or blocks designed to slow down water. They can be seen in groups of a dozen or more at the many drain outfalls in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area, and all over the United States and elsewhere accompanied by new drains. Churn blocks are also found at the downstream ends of box-culvert style bridges and the outfalls of drainage channels.
