The original idea behind urbanaut is the adherence to a strict code of ethics, including but not limited to: -"Take only photographs, leave only footprints" (Strict) -Observing the actions of other urbanauts in order to protect the title. -Creating a positive public image for UE. -Presenting oneself as a law abiding citizen at all times, including non-UE. -Losing the title of urbanaut if code of ethics has been broken, resulting in probation period and/or exclusion. -Activism in preserving exploration sites from vandalism, destruction, etc. The term urbanaut was originally coined by Skaught in November, 2004.
