Was watching the news and heard about a fire that destroyed 8 row houses on Olive Avenue and killed a man. Pretty damned scary. I lived in one of the units briefly in 1981 and remembered being told that if a fire broke out in one unit, that would spread like crazy. I remember the bath tub being in the basement and the washroom on the second floor being tiny to the point that if you weren't careful, you would smack your head on the opposite wall while getting off the toilet. I believe I will be checking out the area to see if the unit I was in was among the ones destroyed.

I drove by this morning and the section of Olive in front of the homes is closed to traffic and a nice member of the DRPS is sitting in his car inside the closed off area. I guess if you live in that area you need to get the DRPS officer's attention and he'll let you in. You can't see much damage from outside the barricaded areas.

Went by there yesterday and all you can smell is burned wood pretty nasty. When we went to john the mittes(sp) was also gone as well due to a fire. The fire looked like it only got the middle 8 then again it was dark.

Went by today and all of the fencing is still up..they're lucky the whole block didn't go up.
