Interesting Keyboard Ideas?

So while looking into backlight keyboards I found an interesting keyboard that they are designing.. It is called the Optimus Keyboard, It has some amazingly bad ass ideas.. Yet it also seems unrealistic:

http://www.artlebe...verything/optimus/

Now I dunno but 115ish mini LCD screens has GOT to jack the price up alot, and I don't see people spending a grand on a keyboard this seems kinda dumb.. Also it's wireless, so that means batteries? How long can batteries power all these LCD screens for? It would seem it would have been better off as a wired keyboard, but I'm not designing it so, Meh...
Aside from the above stated problems I forsee it is a rather bad ass idea that hasn't been done before (at least as far as I know)

I wouldn't. My keyboard works just fine without being all pimped out

That's pretty handy, I could definitely use the gaming function as I can never remember all the controls. Plus the shortcut keys look pretty handy too. If it's reasonably priced, I don't see why not.

So yea.. Thier 3 button version that's on the shelves right now costs $170ish USD..... So.. goin at $58 per button and figuring lets say 115 keys since I don't feel like counting brings this keyboard to about $6670.. then adding in all the nifty fucktarded bells and whistles for the wireless and batteries lets call it at a nice $6800? Seeing thier three button, I can see this costing around $1000 USD.. For a keyboard, I don't care how cool of an idea, is utterly retarded...
Whats sad is the three button costs more then the DeCK I just got, which is an expensive "full" keyboard..

Those are OLEDS not LCDs, they are waiting for prices to drop before they start shipping the full keyboard. I think its a cool idea, but the G15 is enough for me.

OLED is a form of back-lighting the lcd. They are waiting for OLEDs as they give better black levels because the back-light can by shut-off or dimmed in certain areas. The picture quality on them is insanely gorgeous. I saw one at CES. OLEDS = the future of LCD monitors as SEDs won't be making it to the market anytime soon. The g15 is a decent keyboard, but I'm not digging the fact the the Mode buttons and the Num/Caps/Scroll lock lights don't go out with the backlight. Also the lcd is cool, but the way they integrated it is just plain ugly, and the fact that the media buttons can only be accessed when the lcd is up is a pain because the lcd gives off too much ambient light when I'm watching something. I realize that it can be adjusted, but having no on the fly adjuster/button is annoying. Overall a nice keyboard though.

Have you tried making daemons for it? I did a quick Google search but couldn't find a hard disk status daemon.

OLEDs are not a type of backlight. There an actual different type of display.
