I figured I'd post here too.

I go to the bar, everything works just fine.

I leave the bar, no air. Nothing. The blower is completely dead on all settings no matter what.

Where to start? Bandi? Samurai???

98 MK3 Golf.

Haha that must be it!

Well anyways it's working now. I took the panel off on the helpers side, played with the wires (reseating the connections), and gave it a few taps, and it started right up. Must of been frozen or something.

Had the same problem but only worked on high. On a sunfire and cavalier there's a resistor board to control the speed. It corroded through all but one path.

Old then New.

Behind the glove box. The board goes in the slot at the back.

Hell of a time getting it out though.

well my fan fucked up again but I checked it out completely.

The wire that goes from the resistor coil to the fan fucking melted along with the connector. The 4 wires coming from the dials are ok but not the fan wire.

WTF

I've replaced about 200 of those. They're a lot nicer to do on the larger GMs, it's about a 5 minute job.

I've mentioned this to Samarui before, but about 10 years ago, my family had a Class C RV with a 1984 Ford Econoline 350 cab. We were on a trip when the blower for the AC stops working and well my father figures its the fuse.

Well...we both looked and realized there is no fuse for the blower and whatever short that happened killed the blower motor. Fortunately, we were able to find a a used blower mower for actually a scrap yard in the middle of Eastern Oregon for about $5 and put that in with a inline fuse link so that would never happen again.

Not on a sunfire or cavalier. The back screw is near impossible to get any screwdriver at.

They certainly are a pain on the J-Bodies.... I have rather girly hands so that makes it a bit easier for me, but still, I'd prefer to not do them!

first time i changed the blower in my sunchicken i did it in june on the hottest day of the year with my feet in the air on the seat and blood rushing to my head. Hard job for a 250 pound guy. now when the resistor board went i removed the passenger seat, made quick work, as for that rear screw, i put a U joint on my rachet and got it out no problem. My sunbird changing the blower motor was a simple job of pulling it out of the firewall, WHere they put it in the sunfire it fills with leaves and that noise!!!!! and also in heavy downpours water makes its way down there and that is what corrodes the resistor block
