I didn't call you a Christian nut. I said there are Christian nuts. Can you deny that?

Sorry for jumping to conclusions, my bad. Nope, I don't deny there are Christian nuts, Jewish nuts, Islamic nuts, Mormon nuts, Hindu nuts etc. etc. It's part of the human condition.

Your Archbishop seems like a classy dude.

Yeah, he seems to be.

I am a Catholic Christian and this is an example of the type of faith I live. If that makes me a "Christian nut" in your eyes then so be it but don't try to challenge my beliefs unless you have something far better on the table.

Okay......

So here is something better on your table:

How about science, reason and secular humanism.

Right...science, reason and secular humanism...the thinking man's trinity. Interestingly, over the years I've read and heard countless testimonies of scientists and philosophers who would have classified themselves as "secular humanists" who's work became the catalyst to their accepting the reality of a higher power or God. Go figure.

Here's the sort of thing I was referring to:

CAN WE GET ALONG? That is my only question. Can we make room for each other on this planet? Can we resolve our conflicts without criticizing and shooting each other? This thread has been eye opening for me. I am almost convinced we can't. I can't mention religion without hearing an exchange of explitives.

I's like to think we can. But I'm rather idealistic.

I have friends and family who are more than atheistic, they're quite vocal about how much they think Christianity is stupid and disgusting and wrong.

I went over to one of their houses last weekend and celebrated his birthday.

I'll be having a few more of them over on Sunday afternoon, after I get home from church and teaching sunday school.

If my friends and I can do this on a small level. I'd like to think that we can do it on a larger one.

It's a tragedy.
It's exactly like a greek tragedy.
We should only be Greeks.

It seems like most people are able to have these relationships at a small scale. But at the larger scale people lose their humanity in our eyes.
