Been surfing and found this article. I have to admit, I'm appalled and sickened at the cavalier attitude that is shown toward Firefighters by the same people who could very well need to have their asses pulled out of a burning building some day.

Here's the link.

We always ran them through a full-blown test before our shift started, never had a problem. It doesn't surprise me though.

Almost all people have a caviler attitude towards public safety until they need them.

As for the PASS Alarms, yeah, it's a problem. We use SCOTT and the batteries just hang out there, ready to overheat. I guess that's why they say firefighting is an ultra-hazardous, unavoidably dangerous profession.

Hi,
I work for the Canadian Coast Guard and we have these on some of our firefighting suits on ship, I don't know which model those are, but ours are freaking loud, every time I test them people come running to see what's happening.

Well their attitude can be explained because this is a news site, not a blog. People would bad-mouth them if they had personal biases in the article.
