Followed by a more swearing and something about my mother as the receiver came to life.

And once again, I'm proven wrong.

Some slobbering moron tried to back a huge 40 foot truck into our parking garage last week. I was outside on another matter, saw the slobbering moron with the ass end of his truck aimed at the garage and heard his engine start to rev. I managed to stop him and asked what he was doing.

Driver: "I'm trying to get into your loading dock."
Me: (pointing to loading dock that the S.M. just drove past) "That's the loading dock".
Driver: "Are you sure? There's no signage."
Me: (pointing to the sign that says "Loading zone only") "Why does that sign say "Loading zone only?"
Driver: "Oh. Well, can't I go in here this one time?" (pointing to the garage).
Me: "NO! That is the parking garage. Use the loading dock!"
Driver: "Ok. I'll be back in a few minutes. I have to call my boss"
Me: "MOVE THAT TRUCK NOW! YOU'RE BLOCKING THE WHOLE DAMNED PARKING LOT"
Driver moves the truck into the loading dock. Took him 10 minutes.

Afterward, the driver says "You should get a bigger sign".
I replied, "That sign has been there for the better part of the 16 years this building has been standing. I've been here for three years and you are the only driver who tried to ram his truck into the parking garage."

Fortunately, the driver's client appeared at that point and the driver left while I was still able to suppress the desire to smother him with a pillow.

I still shake my head thinking of the damage that would have caused if I hadn't stopped the S.M. Plumbing for the sprinklers, garage door, possibly a pillar or two. Not to mention that the entire parking garage would have been blocked while the truck was jammed in there.

On my normal job, occasionally I have contact with idiot truck drivers. I work in roll handling at the mill and the wrapping/header system is near the outgoing shipping dock.
We have two docks, one on the left side of the warehouse for receiving and the other on the right for shipping.
2am on a Sunday night, we get this idiot who walks into the door. The employee smoking area is just out a door near the wrapper system operating station and sometimes, the drivers pull in there because they don't realize the big silver building down the road 500 feet is the loading dock. Most of them usually understand when you explain that to them...but one night this idiot insisted that our office in the department was the office he had to go to to get his manifest for the trailer he was picking up.
Well...he ended up standing in there till almost 5am. When we make a driver wait for a trailer, usually we're <the company> charged up to 100 dollars an hour...this time..this dumb fuck didn't get his late fee. I would have loved to have seen the look on this idiots face when they told him he was shit out of luck because he was already here and because of his stupidity he wasn't getting his money because his load was sitting on the dock for three hours while he was being a complete retard.
