My slave cyliner just gave out and for the last time.

and your slave cylinder went?
weird.
7 Cavaliers, 5 were 5 speeds... never had a slave fail.
even with 200,000+ miles!

Did you order the actual GM slave cylinder, or was it an Autozone/Advance/Napa/etc... part?

I'll actually be rebuilding one of the 2 slaves I have for my SAAB soon. Neither works very well... It should be a simple job (only has 5 parts total, but I dont know about modern ones...)

It's the original, but I'm going with an aftermarket one so that I can sell it ASAP.

i sometimes wonder what you guys do to these cars?

You should meet my friend Appleseed. Automakers need to hire this kid to do all their real world torture testing... basically, if it can be done, this kid can and will do it to a car.

I got them to work on the car because it had loud ticking and they did fix it, temporarily, but now it's back.

Mine, I new the day was coming, and still will come that the slave cylinder will come, there is a bad seal in there.

yours is the GT, right? The 2.4L Twin Cam boat anchor with the 5gear getrag... the slave cylinder in that animal is (a) cheap and (b) easy to replace.

honest question- has your waterpump or head gasket failed? (it's a question I ask all 2.4L owners)

Yes noticed that the price is cheap, but around 5 hours of work in -10 isn't something I want to do right now. In the warmth maybe.

No, neither, but alike many sunfires around here the headlight switch has died again. Haven't bothered to replace it this time.

the 'clicking' complain alot of owners had was the throwout bearing rattling when the clutch pedal was out/neutral... drove me nuts. Oddly enough, the Cobalts do it too.
5 hours to change a slave cylinder? Glad I had the 2.2L!

That's what they quoted me. But they also quoted me that for the cable assembly, but it only took them two, and only charged me for two.
