Ok, here's the thing. This saturday my girlfriend has her birthday and she wanted an external DVD-writer. No problem, I went out to a shop and bought her a Samsung SE-S184. I asked the one of the computer dumbo's over there if it was compatible with her Mac G4 notebook and they said "yeah, I guess so", not a very trustful answer. Now, does anybody know positively sure if it really works on a mac?? Would be kind of a bummer if it doesn't work when I give it to her. I can't test it because I do not own a mac. Anybody??

Will it work with the machine and OS? Yes. Will it work with the Apple software (iMovie, iDVD, etc)? Possibly not.

Basically it will work but you may not be able to use it with some or all of the Apple "iApps". Any other burning software that is up to date should work with it.

Also, depending on the age of the Powerbook it may only have USB 1.1 which will seriously limit the speed at which it can be used.

Luckily It's already a USB2.0 and not a 1.1. Apart from those I-stuff from apple I'm glad to hear that it will work. My GF never uses that I-shit anyway.
