SCSI Help - Please!

I'm a little new to the SCSI world and needs a little help. Hopefully someone can give me a hand. I have had a 36.4 GB WIDE ULTRA3 SCSI drive fail on me. It is in a RAID 5 array and I haven't lost any data, however I cannot buy a 36.4 GB drive without spending like $1000 to get an HP service model. My question is; if I buy a 72.8GB drive (which are readily available for $400) will I have to buy 3 for the array or will a single one work (with just formatting a 36.4 GB partition)?

A larger drive *should* work, but consult the documentation for your RAID controller first. I have done it before on HP/Compaq controllers and it works fine.

Only got small stuff to spare. A few 2 GB and under drives and some ISA controllers. Hell, I recently disassembled a 1.6 GB 5 1/4 full hight SCSI drive just for the magnets. Only get to play with the cool SCSI stuff at work.

Thanks for the advice. I ultimately couldn't spend the money to put a new drive into this 10+ year old server. I'm replacing it and another file server with a new HP DL380. In a couple weeks I plan to pull the dinosaur server outside a la Office Space and beat it to death .
