"I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Mr Carter said. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations, including those of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon and others, has been the most disturbing to me."

Mr Carter, who is promoting a new book, Sunday Morning In Plains, a collection of Bible lessons from his hometown in Georgia, also had harsh words for Tony Blair, Britain's departing prime minister, who made a farewell visit to Washington last week, in a separate interview with the BBC.

"I think that the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world," he said. He called Mr Blair's relationship with Mr Bush "abominable, loyal, subservient and blind".

God bless this man.

Peanut farmers who become president, peace-activists, third-world home builders, infrastructure advocates, celebrated authors who devote their golden years to the pursuit of human understanding, peace, brotherhood (and sisterhood) versus wealthy dynastic motherfucker idiot draft-dodging lying incompetent croney-fucking nepotistic insider Daddy's favourite sons who launch catastrophic and illegal wars and commit genocidal war crimes and crimes against humanity...

I could go on, but I suddenly need to take a shit.

And this has what, precisely, to do with religious discussion? Looks like more of a political thread to me.

I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their views.

The SECOND worst president

How is that? Please elaborate. Carter is the only religious man I would ever trust in the White House.

How about a statesman instead of a politician, one that cares more about what needs to be done than what a god-book says must be done. How about a non-religious man with a spine and a plan? I like that better.

That's Carter. He was, and still is, definitely more of a statesman than a politician. He made the choices that needed to be made for the country, without fear of the negative political fallout. And he had lust in his heart, man. Never forget that.

Bush, on the other hand, bases all of his decisions on nonsense that he read in the Bible and didn't understand and doesn't remember, except that he knows some powerful people who have told him that he really should be helping to bring about the Apocalypse, because that's what God wants.

But yeah, of course I think an honorable person, free of religious dogma, would make a much better president.

That and the whole dancing circus poodle thing.

Cheney to Evil Cabal: we need a big fucking dunce to head things up for the short term. Someone we can frighten into a stupor, and we need to frighten this dunce by 'enacting our special plans' ASAP. Suggestions?

Bush Sr. to Evil Cabal: my son owns the worst team in baseball, and he's still learning to tie his shoes. Maybe I can persuade him...

Cheney: Excellent...excellent.

I was here for Jimmy's tenure in the oval office. I think the god thing did play a part in many of his decisions, Mauriel boatlift being the one that first springs to mind. He was guided by his heart and his religion more than once and I belive it was not to the country's benefit. Alot of his other decisions were questionable too, for other reasons unrelated to religion.

But, since I will admit that I was unclear. Can I please have effective, religion-free leadership in my elected leadership. That may be closer to what I was trying to get.

But I will grant you that Bush is a fucking tool, and all adding religion did to him was make him electable to alot of single issue voters.

So, Carter-nice guy, ment well, crappy POTUS
Bush-asshat, clueless, really crappy POTUS
