| | | Bet you guys never thought you'd see me post something with that subject!
Anyhow, Samurai, I need some advice. My neighbour has a 2000 Cavalier, base model, 5 speed, 2.2 liter, and said it's governed at 105 mph... would chipping it remove this speed limiter? What chip would you recommend, etc, etc, etc. With what I know about GM performance stuff... it might as well be made out of spaceship parts!

| 98+ J-body computers are non-chip-able... they are flash memory. there are only two ways to get around the speed limiter on one of those cars. One- a tame GM tech with a Tech II. The other is to find the pigtail coming off the transaxle, find the purple wire, cut it and run a switch back into the dash. As you approach the limiter, flip the switch off. That cuts out that circuit to the computer and the car can go faster. Downside? It throws a check engine light and you lose your speedometer. Once you get below 105, flip the switch on and you're good again... but you'll need the CEL cleared. Samurai
