Typical government organizations. Shitty service provided by overpaid whiners who couldn't make it in the private sector.

For those of you who regularly purchase products online from small businesses, you've no doubt already started to feel the effects of the unprecedented postage rate increase that took effect in May.

You'll also be pleased to know that this rate increase, unlike all previous rate hikes, was largely the doing of huge corporations looking for ways to cut their costs at the expense of every small business in America. You can read more about that here.

The postal service has not only increased the rates, but they have adopted a new system that adds relatively expensive surcharges for packages based on their size and their contents. Basically, if you're not mailing a letter or a corporate magazine, you're getting completely hosed...

I've found that with Canada Post, it's cheaper to send a package internationally than within Canada.

Canada Post is pretty shitty. Apparently more so than USPS.

Because few people mail letters anymore, Canada Post (and I'm sure the USPS as well) have basically sold their souls to junk mail merchants. I only accept mail addressed to me by name. Anything else gets bundled up and dropped off to my local Canada Post office. When they ask WTF I'm doing I tell them I'm returning all the unsolicited mail. They're usually stunned, then angered, but fuck 'em.

i find that using FedEx or UPS is CHEAPER than the postal service, but this was one of those 'i am here, it needs to go NOW...' situations. I just wanted to make sure the fucking thing got there. So now, I have to get up early, trundle to the fucking post office and see if the brainless dolt behind the counter can work his fucking terminal and see if my payment made it where it was going.

I've always asked for USPS shipments when I order from the US because UPS costs an arm and a leg, I'll have to double check the rates now.

Why did you have to send a car payment in the mail? Mine come out of my bank account once a month automatically.

believe it or not, there are people out there who do not trust nor use banks for anything. I never have and never will. Av and I got into this fistfight a bit ago. I still haven't changed my opinions on banks. I have a savings account at a credit union just so i can cash my paycheck. Other than that, fuck banks.

Curious, how badly did you get ripped-off from a bank to carry such a distrust and dislike?

hehehe... postal money orders, or I pay other bills in person. And yes, a bank i was using ripped me off and then camouflaged their fuck up under the umbrella of 'service fees'... almost $200???? what the fuck kind of service fee is that???

My friend's mom was going through a divorce when the bank deposited $400,000.00 into her savings account. She does not have that kind of money so she went to the bank and alerted them of their mistake. They told her it was her money and it was from her husband, court, whatever settlement in the divorce. She knew it was not her money, so she went 'higher-up' into the bank, they still claimed it was her money. She went to her lawyer, who contacted the bank and had them write a letter officially telling her it WAS her money. The lawyer then advised her to invest it in a 10 year GIC and collect the interest.

The bank realized the mistake shortly after the investment was started, they obviously demanded their money back, she refused and hid behind the lawyer. The bank claimed she was stealing the money, but it was locked-in to the GIC so she was unable to break it. They decided to give her a $400,000.00 loan that she would have to pay interest on. The lawyer laughed at that idea, and armed with the letter stating it was her money, the settlement was reached. She is to give the money back after the 10 year GIC term, she collects all the interest and is not responsible for any fees or service charges, she will earn $165,000.00 in interest because the bank insisted she was wrong. They had to issue her a interest-free 10 year loan to recover their money.

I worked for one for over 10 years. And yes, I don't trust them either. I nearly lost my car because of some moron who didn't do their job and on two other occasions, I was publicly humiliated because of a bank's f**kup.

Also, when I applied for a loan to the bank I worked for, the bitch that took my application was very rude and unprofessional. I finally told her to shove the application up her ass and took my business to another bank.

I have no qualms about shopping around for banking services. And when I'm asked why I closed my account, I tell them exactly why! And also tell them to make damned sure their boss finds out why.

I went to the Post Office Friday to mail a package. I was going to send it media mail. Well the box was not taped shut. The nice lady behind the counter said the tape that she had was for priority mail only and offered to sell me a small roll of tape for $3.50. Needless to say I shipped it UPS.

Werd, yo. Banks and I don't get along well. I tried to open an account with a $10000 cheque a couple of years ago.

When the bank guy typed in my stats, every light in the bank dimmed. I could hear hard drives snapping. The guy glanced at his monitor and smiled and said, "Um...no."

"Student loan matters?"

"Yes."

"This is a cheque for ten thousand dollars, and I'd like to give it to you for safekeeping."

"We can't help you."

Apparently, I am toxic to banks. They DO NOT want my business. I couldn't be more proud.

I've never had a problem with USPS, Canada Post or even France's La Poste.

Av also must now know any farmers...plently of farmers out there that don't deal with banks.

Nvr2loud: If you must use UPS to send something to you from the US, don't take UPS Ground to Canada but do UPS Standard Air because they don't try to compensate for the low service cost on Ground by charging outrageous brokerage fees.

I ordered a DVD-ROM from some Florida company. It arrived the next day via FedEx. But the seller never mentioned this and now FedEx are charging me customs/duty fees on the Canadian government's behalf - when sending it regular mail would have avoided these charges under most circumstances. So, that added $13 to the purchase price. Grrrr...

Thats interesting because FedEx generally doesn't charge you unless either they had to actually research customs information OR its an item that requires a GST/PST charge on it. What did the itemized statement say?
