| | | Posted by racetraitor I've always hated Metallica. They almost sued some of my friends. For such a litigious band, they got their name from less than scrupulous means. A friend was starting a heavy metal magazine and had a bunch of names shortlisted. One of the frontrunners was "Metallica." Lars told him it was a shitty name and suggested he go with another one, and then stole it for his own band.
| You hit the nail on the head. I recall skimming through one of those fan zines...Hit Parade or some shit...as a teenager and I read an interview with an up-and-coming Lars (back when he still looked like a 12 year old boy with a metal-mullet), and he went on about his glorious youth back in the Old Country where he'd sneak into shows and trade bootlegged Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc. albums/casettes, which as we all know, are illegally recorded and distributed by fans often sitting in row 16, waving a hand-held mic over his/her head, etc. etc. and Lars went on about how fond he was of his bootleg collection and blah blah blah and 20 years later there he is again, his metal mullet now a high-domed forehead (sucks to have a receding hairline, doesn't it Lars?) wearing eye-liner and glittery clothes and more-or-less looking like a transvestite dwarf, railing about Napstar and how users are stealing from him and his band-mates (this was before they fired their 'mate' Jason, the one and true Metallica fan in the band) and how unfair it is and I instantly decided to toss all (but one) Metallica recordings that I'd collected over the years. I didn't resell them. Or give them away. I took them outside my home and placed them in the garbage and said Good-bye. (I saved Master of Puppets on vinyl. It's in near mint condition) And then they went into therapy and/or AA, and thus completed their steady descent into mediocrity, which began when Bob Rock taught them how to be 'artists.' Fuck them.

| | | Posted by SkaSkank i hate metallica now, i never really liked them a whole lot, but especially after some kind of monster, that stupid documentary, they were just a bunch of whiny old men. (if you have not seen, the documentary, don't waste your time it sucks.) Oh and i agree Lars is a greedy hypocritical waste of time. EDIT:didn't like the way i phrased ending
| You have to remember, before they were metallica, they were a bunch of D&D nerds.
