Phreak you were talking about DFing some guy to his door. How did you do this? Whats the standard procedure. I have DFed emergany locators myself was wondering how you did it. May be useful for some of the harder operations.

My df'ing was done with a cb radio (modified for more power and extra channels but thats unrelated) I used a standard cb antenna mounted on my vehicle, nothing fancy. Based on teh mounting point of the antenna on the vehicle i knew where my strongest lobe was (the area of best reception, and transmission) BY tkaing this into account you can figure out where an indiviudual is in relation to you by watching signal strength as you drive around, it will increase as the strong lobe nears their direction. You then start to amke your way towards their general location. You constantly watch the signal meter (nice to have a copilot for this so you can watch the road) and adjust your direction accordingly. Eventuaally you will see that the signal is always at full strength, you then turn down the rf gain slightly so that u can see the variation in signal instead of it maxing the meter cosntantly. You then continue as before, and repeat steps as necessary, eventuall you will see that u will get the gain extremely low and barely hear the subject only when pointed in certain direction (you may find them before this even) Then i just look for a cb antenna on a vehicle or house, and i have found the culprit.

My friend and i used to spend alot of time on the CB. When i still ahd my amplifier we talked skip all over the country. Skip is when your singal bounces off the atmosphere and travels over large distances. The farthers i ever reach was to the west coast which is dman impressive considering the small amount of power i ran in relation to some of the big players in the cb world. We also have tracked many people, it is somewhat exciting.

i think that covers it, let me knwo if you have any questions
