Do any of you actaully TRUST the gas gauge in your car? I know for a fact mine is always off by 2 gallons and it drives me nuts.

The Tercel can go about a 16th of an inch below the empty line... and doesn't run out. Found that out last week when the gas station closed an hour early.

The Durango... well, I've put 30 km on it after the "distance to empty" thing read zero km. Neat. However, I'm pretty sure it can also run on baby seals.

Funny story about that... last thursday was "Leave your car at home day". I was in Toronto in the Durango, there was a peaceful anti-car protest at one intersection, and it was pointed out to me that it was this day. So I said "I know.. that's why I left my car at home and drove my SUV."

both my golfs guages are fucked when you fill up the tank. You fill it up to the top and the guage still indicates that it's empty. Once the amount of gas left goes under 1/2, it's fine. I can go under the E and still do at least 20km with the 1.8. Donno about the 1.8T. Never pushed it...

the gage in the SS trips the 'LOW FUEL' warning at about an 1/8th of a tank. That means there is about a gallon left. I did this the other day... 13.3 gallon tank, took 12.3 gallons of 93 octane Sunoco to fill it.

I trust the gage in the car... My 91 Cavalier was incredibly forgiving. When the CHECK GAGES light came on, you had 26 miles and that was it.

my sunbird had a guage that would do the same thing sam, as for my sunfire, the first half of the guage drops like a rock and then it steadys out, i guess the tank is an odd shape
