The Only New BMW I'd Buy.....

Looks sporty, bad ass, and best of all, I can't even think about affording it.

While I feel that BMW is loosing their focus overall, I think this is a good exception, and this is what the new M3 should have been (although a bigger power-plant would be necessary). The new M3 is like the M6 of the 90s. Too much luxury, not enough practicality.

I've always liked sedans, so I think an alpine 335i would work out nicely.

Personally, I am with you in the fact that I'd rather go older, especially when I drive by my neighbors car...

I'd take a 335i or new M3 if offered, but probably end up selling it for an e30 or e36.

That's a beautiful e30 m3 your neighbor has there. I'm looking into getting one, but I think I may end up with an e36 sedan.

Yeah, I've got part of the equation. Got a E36 328 sedan that needs to get an S52 one day.

I went both routes. Got an E36 and a B5 A4. Unfortunately, The A4 is my work car so I ended up with an automatic (advantage when stuck in traffic), but its about to be a fun, unsuspecting Revo spage 2.

What did you mean by 'BMW losing their focus'?
Personally, i think their styling has got a bit on the funky side. They look like Pontiacs from the front now.

The BMW X3 and X6 are completely unneccessary, I kinda have grown used to the X5, but I still don't like it all too much. The m3 used to be the nimble sports car and the m5 the luxury rocket but now it seems (Since the e46) that the m3 has taken up residence next to the m5.

From the front they look like pontiacs, overall like the infinity g35, and from the rear QP, the new M3 looks like an accord.

The 3 series isn't the affordable car it once was designed to be. I feel that the 1 series is replacing it in terms of innovation and affordability.

yeah, the X-series suck... but what was BMW supposed to do? Sit back and let Mercedes, Lexus, Acura, Porsche and Infiniti have the upscale SUV market?

i think out of that gaggle of manufacturers, it was Porsche who most lost credibility with that horrendous Cayenne. I do see your point about BMW losing their focus somewhat after considering it.

I used to be a BMW nut, I've owned 6 or 7 E30s, a '76 530i, an '84 528e, still own an E30 318i, and a '72 2002. Anyhow, I hated the X series SUVs... until I drove my boss's X3 3.0. Sure, it looks like an abortion, but man, the thing drives like a small sports car (and it's a 6 speed manual!). Handling is just incredible, especially for an SUV. I don't think the X3 is entirely unneccesary, it's almost what the Honda CR-V is to the Pilot.

Although, would I buy one? Hell no.

However, my ultimate dream Bimmer... the E30 M3... especially the Sport Evolution. Mmmm.

I REALLY like the "tii" graphics on that car... ESPECIALLY the reversed one on the bumper, paying a nice tribute to the '73 BMW 2002 tii turbo. Only a limited number of the 2002s had the reversed Turbo graphic, it was decided it was too tacky. I think it was AWESOME.
