Yeah, my check engine light is ALWAYS on, but it's probably because my underhood wiring harness is somewhat of a hybrid, after doing the 5E swap.

I have a P0442 code on my 05 Silverado, canister leak....emissions shit. I have to remove the bed to get to it so I am slacking off.

LOL!!! The most COMMON CEL on the Silverado!!!
Next time it comes on, take a rubber mallet and beat on the bottom of the gas tank. Just give it a couple of good, solid taps. (I mean, don't dent the shit out of the tank!)
this usually unsticks the solenoid/valve on the canister.
also, with the Silverados, 9 times out of 10, the gas cap is the culprit. Try replacing the cap with another cap.
(my mom has an 04 Silverado and we have been down this road before)

yeah I know it, good sound advise. Here it comes......BUT I pressure tested the cap and its good to go. The deal is I got in a massive rear end collision and the bed got smashed in the cab. 6 months after I bought her. Culprit is the filler neck is bent! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I know it, I paid cash for it in August 05 and was so damn proud. I had dropped my girl (at the time) off at her house. It was about 12:30 at night and I was sitting at a light. I took a sip of a 20.0z coke and heard SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH. Looked in my mirror to see headlights rapidly approaching. BAM. Dude hit me so hard that my necklace broke off my neck and the seat frame was bent up.

Long story short Illegal immigrant with no insurance and he ran.......after I parked and got out of the truck. Cops never got him and I got stuck paying the deductible.

But 5 star crash rating, saved me a buttload of medical bills!

i hear stories like this a lot over on cobaltss.net
lot of uninsured people running around... Vermont this is an especially incredible problem because you don't need proof of insurance to register your car... Here in NY, you have to have proof of insurance before the DMV clerk will even LOOK at your registration paperwork!

And you can't drop insurance until you have a receipt from the DMV saying that the license plates have been returned to the state!

i'm closer to New England (5 minutes from Vermont) where now that the Bills are done, the Patriots are the last hope for the AFC. My Dad is a big Giants fan. My mom has a thing for the Patriots...

Them giants can go in my gas tank, they'd fit right in with everything else that's meant to be burned.
