That was basically my first vehicle ever when I turned 16. Mine was an 82. Did the long bed versions all have two gas tanks? All my friends thought that was cool that I had two.

mine was this peachy tan color, like a weird sherbert color sort of... only had one gas tank. Thing got stuck on my lawn it was so light in the ass!

I am gonna go with no repalcement for displacement. When I turned 16, my father had a 84 dodge 1/2 ton with a 360 interceptor motor with the thermoquad 4 bbl on it with a 4 speed. It would eat up 5.0 mustangs (stock ones) . Then I bought an 89 for 1500 and put 2500 into the 318 in it and had it hooked up to a four gear as well and my god the ricers around here were kinda embarassed when a multicolored blue truck (5 different blues with no color scheme at all) would beat their asses in their civics and integra's . As for toughness I would go with imports I had a 90 accord with half a million on it and I beat the living crap out of it, when I gave up driving it (it didn't die) one brake worked, the slave cylinder was shot(I had to start it in gear) , but I still got good mileage and slamming it into second gear, it would still chirp.lol

The "no replacement for displacement" argument has been raging for years!! I have been following more than a few of these debates, and i think the line is becoming more and more blurred! Up to a few years ago, i believe the statement was irrefutable, but small displacement engine technology has made light year leaps in technology! With that said, there is a boatload of development dollars being pumped into V8 technology as a direct result of the horsepower wars and the rising cost of fuel. But personally, i think the statement still rings true for a couple of important reasons.....1) Cost! It is still cheaper to extract a certain HP from a V8 compared to I4. I4's seem to need more "technology" for equal gains, resulting in higher prices. 2) Reliability! As an I4 breaks through a certain HP range, their reliability is expotentially reduced a greater amount compared to a V8. A high horsepower I4 has historically been, and will continue to be, for the time being, a finicky monster! And i'm sure you can spout contradictory examples, because there is always exceptions to the rule, as a blanket statement, this still rings true. Although, i think this reason will change over time.

Most of the other arguments, for and against, have begun to fall off and i think a whole new set of variables will come into play in the coming years!!!

To put everything in perspective, if i told you to make a 600 HP NA engine, for X amount of dollars and must be able to last for years, honestly, what would you do?

ohhh, by the way, the hood looks good and killer deal, dude!!

yeah, but there is nothing like shutting up a Five-Liter Mustang dork with a 2.0L 4banger.
NOTHING!
Or actually, telling a 4.6L Mustang asshole to sit down because their car isn't worth the gas to race.

that's is one of the top 5 most satisfying moments in my life.

Ahem, cough I6 cough. V8's are just two I4s that share a crank. While the tech is going farther, you still can't get past the fact that a I6 doesn't need a balance shaft, hardly vibrates, and has one of the best torque curves known to mankind. See: S38B38, S50B32, S54

Ahem, see Slant 6.
how about the AMC 258 I6... or better yet, the 200 I6 that had the weird powerband of a 4banger and the torque of a 6.
Or... heheheh RB26DETT?
