Like many private boards this one will probably see a fair amount of inactivity, but I think it's nice to have a board for this area up just the same.

The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave.

This does seem like a good idea.

In the DB we have about, what 6 locations or so around the area? We need to pick up our pace a little bit.

There are a lot of other locations, but most of us choose not to use the UER DB for numerous reasons. If you do share it on UER's DB, please do not disclose the full name unless it is something like... Consolidated Grain

There's a ton of them at Abandoned, where I have Consolidated Grain, Foster and Sterns, Glencoe, the three churches, and I think a few others. I need to dig through my old archives for more, but I've been too busy lately to do any real work or exploring

These are the spots I personally haven't gotten into, but am willing to attempt.

Old Summit Psychiatric Center
Hudepohl Brewery
Woodside Hospital
"Research Building"
Peters Cartridge (got owned trying to get in)
Cincinnati Subway
Mill A (very huge)
Mill B (smaller but right next door)
Old St. Georges Church
Cincinnati Sewer System
Church in OTR (sketchy)

Thats all I can think of at the moment (for Cincinnati spots). But there is a big power plant in Springfield that I have been dying to attempt for the last year or so. It is not abandoned, but it is not in operation.

Summit is coming down sometime soon, isn't it?

As for Peters I know what you mean, I grew up right around there and that place is tough to get into. Part of it is in use as art studios, here's the guys website:

Have you been to the theatre yet? It was going to be torn down but I think budget problems are halting that plan.

I'm not sure how I feel about the sewers, most of them around here are combined storm/sanitary, so it might be a bit stinky down there.

Yeah, they already started demo'ing parts of summit, but i would say it is still doable.

What I meant by "owned" at peters is that I fell off this thing trying to get in:

It was probably a good 20 foot drop, and boy did the landing hurt.

Whats the deal with that auditorium? I go by it every day, and I never have seen a viable entrance. Is it hard to get into?

I tried to contact the Cincinnati Department of Transportation in regards to a tour of the subway or trying to tag along on an inspection for an assignment in one of my classes. All I got in reply was a short email basically saying "civilians are not allowed in the subway". But doesn't some group around here do tours? I'd be willing to attempt a subway trip (Maybe we could organize something by using old maps (I have a bunch in a book) rather than attempting to go through the I-75 portals.) Like Seicer, I'm pretty wary of posting some locations in the DB just because of the general irresponsibility of some people who read this site. In case anyones interested, I have a website dedicated to abandonments around Cincinnati and elsewhere....

G, did you ever make it into that old Nike base out by Oxford? I drove all the way out there once last year and some farmer came out on his porch to watch me the whole time, so I gave up.

I don't know what the deal is anymore, since the last time I've been in there they put up some no trespassing signs everywhere, and locked the doors. However in my experience there was always one open door you could just go into when no one was watching. Entering and exiting would be the tough part, I'm pretty sure there's almost no security once you're in.

Just read that a Catholic school in Hamilton, Ohio is closing. Kids are going to St. Peter in Chains (worst school name EVAR!) instead. Could be a spot to check out next year.

You betcha

That would be St. Julies that is closing. I don't know for sure, but I think that the building may still be used by the church even though the school children are leaving. The school has been struggling for year, almost closed about 3 years ago. I went to grade school at St. Anns down the road, had lots of friends who went to St. Julies. My dad still serves on some committee that's been discussing trying to consolidate all the catholic schools in Hamilton.
