I'm really a reggae kind of guy, Israel Vibration & Augustus Pablo are favorites of mine. But naturally I listen to the classics - Justin Hinds, The Paragons, Desmond Dekker, etc.

Anyone else out there?

Yeah, Im trying to find more, actually I really like this type of music, and kind of just discovered it recently. Check out Giant panda gorilla dub squad and also Steel pulse. Got any more recommendations?

I dunno what you'd call it - progressive dub rock? But try The Drift (current) or Dif Juz (pronounced "diffuse") for great 80s dub rock.

Plus for some great reggae dub pop, try Baby I Love You So from Colourbox, absolutely brilliant.

A lot of those names you give I prefer in their earlier incarnations. Desmond Dekker and Justin Hinds did some killer ska, and the Paragons did some great rocksteady. I usually prefer the earlier skinhead era stuff to the later roots and dub and doobies stuff, but I listen to all reggae (before 1980 at least).

Here are my recommendations:
Linton Kwesi Johnson - the greatest dub poet
Big Youth - was the most popular reggae musician during the birth of punk
Scotty - everyone's heard the song "Draw Your Brakes"
Dillinger - done some great songs
U-roy - classic dub reggae
I-roy - almost as classic dub reggae
Rico Rodrigues
Mikey Dread
Charley Ace

But if you want to go back farther to the classics, I have many more recommendations. Hell, just search on Soulseek for any skinhead reggae compilation. Dancehall '69 is a great example, as is the Trojan Skinhead Reggae Boxset.
My favourite musicians from then are:
Derrick Morgan
Pyramids/Simaryp/Seven Letters
Ethiopians
Fitzroy Sterling
Pat Satchmo
Winston Shand
Rudy Mills
GG All Stars
Lloyd Clarke
Hot Rod All Stars
Judge Dread
Sylvian Williams
Soul Offrus

And if you want to go back earlier to the era of ska, there are a few bands that recorded well despite technological deficiencies.
The aforementioned Justin Hinds
Prince Buster
Baba Brooks
Robert Marley
Dandy Livingstone

I could probably remember more but I've been drinking a lot and it's not coming to me.

If you want

U-roy - classic dub reggae

Indeed! My Colourbox suggestion above - click on the link and select the song Say You - it's a great cover of a U-Roy classic.

I would've expected someone with your avatar to be quick to point out Laurel Aitken's absence.

Laurel Aitken is pretty amazing, but Toots and the Maytals should be a bigger staple to reggae (and not ska) fans.

I'd say much of Toots and the Maytals' songbook is classic ska, like 54-46.

When you're refer to Toot's classic tunes, the line between reggae and ska is very blurred
