For anyone who's interested, the city of Fairfield has been buying up houses from their residents then demolishing them. The houses used to flood quite frequently and the city was not supposed to let anyone build on the location in the first place and each flood huge disputes with the insurance companies would ensue so FEMA eventually granted them money to buy and demo the houses that frequently flooded. In summer of 05 they bought up 1/2 a street and let the houses sit there for about a month before demoing them all in a week now they've moved on to another street, one I grew up on. You can check it out, its the latest post on
