Yeah, they exist. It's just hard to find the EXACT one I want. I found one somewhat close to what I wanted on craigslist a couple weeks ago, and by the time I drove to the guys house (2 hours away), he had sold it.

A lot of people think they're worth a million bucks too. I'm not going to pay 3k for a car that's in primer, half rusted, and has been cut up with a bunch of half-assed aftermarket mods done by somebody who has no clue what they're doing. Sorry, it's just not worth that.

I'm looking for one without a motor or a blown motor, rust free, and all original. It has to have all of the options too (leather, t-tops, C/S package).

There are some streets in Cincinnati that it could not climb, even in first.

Good mileage though.

92 Toyo pickup I-4 RWD needs $4-500 in repairs, but we got it running again
94 Nissan Pathfinder 4WD (mom's: can borrow when I need/want, which is almost never)
05 Legacy Sedan

But, I'm probably not keeping the Legacy for another 5 years.

Thinking of paying off my loan early and going to "downgrade" to a 82-83 Datsun 280z turbo or Nissan Z31 turbo 300z; Datsun preferably.

I think they were the first car to be made in the southern U.S., Georgia. And kudos for the diesel option.

Here's my list: 1974 - 2009 Reading this, a 12 step program seems in order.

More or less in order of purchase. *(still have) Put in some details, pardon

1971 Toyota Corolla 1200 Coupe. blew head gasket so traded for:
1969 Plymouth Sport Fury 2dr HT (383)
1959 VW Beetle, (chopped it into a bush bug)
1952 VW Beetle, project not running
*1951 VW Beetle project not running
1966 VW Bus, epic party wagon/idiot teen days
1974 VW Thing Type 181 A modern made in Mexico update of the famous Kubelwagen WW2 German Jeep
1974 Datsun 710, traded for the Thing, got tired of the plastic windows
1971 VW Bus commercial, no interior, traded for 710 after many great years with the 710
1971 Datsun 1200 traded for the VW which needed engine work
1980 Renault Le Car, gift from parents
1981 Subaru 4wd Wagon, good car, dealers sucked, kept it for many years
1975 Datsun 280Z Rusty project, sold quick
1979 Volvo 240 Biggest auto mistake of my life, 500.00 sitting in a field, sunroof, tach, leather seats, fix one thing, by the time I was home there was another problem. And those European aluminum fuses kept shorting it out, engine would quit. My Malibu small V8 2bbl gets better mileage, Had a garage sale and it sold, yay.
1970ish Nova, came with the property, didn't run, six cyl, should have maybe kept, it was a mess though.
1984 Toyota 4wd Short Box Extra Cab Pickup. The dealer didn't disclose the rust, I found out, they shut me up for a 1000.00 rebate on a 2600.00 purchase GM Dealer, sad to say.
1980 Chev Heavy 3/4 ton Camper Special Pickup with huge Caveman Camper.
1986 Jeep Cherokee 2dr 4 cylinder 4wd
1986 VW Jetta Diesel, awesome mileage and handled well, a bitch to start if hot and battery is not 100%
1969 VW Fastback Type 3 needed resto, a real classic drove it a bit
1992 Mazda MPV Minivan, bought as project, mistake, dud V6 engine
1977 Chev Beauville full size van, great van, 3sp trans 350
1986 Toyota Long Box Extra cab Pick Up
1990 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 6 cyl 4wd
1986 Chev Short Sidewinder Travel Van conversion, huge mistake, early 4sp tranny made noises on the way home from purchase 100kms away.
1966 Barracuda, never registered in my name, didn't run
1962? Wolesely, never registered in my name, didn't run
1980 Ford Pickup, was free, sold for 600.00 seized engine
1992 Toyota Forerunner, cash plus trade only to get rid of 86 Chev van, Forerunners are good, but this one was dicey.
1986 Toyota Forerunner, traded for the Winebago, dicey, sold it quick
1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl with kinda rare manual 5 speed. Sadly it seemed to have drivetrain issues, hopping in reverse, previous owner had a stack of receipts.
1992 Toyota AWD Previa Minivan
1990? Suzuki Sidekick 2 door, bought as project, trans shot, too much rust to fix.
*1980 Chev Pick Up... Exact same truck I owned before, bought back, not knowing where it went. Still have it, runs great, a bit of rust, will restore one day.
1978 Chrysler Cordoba, no Corinthian leather
*1980 Chev Malibu wagon, keeping for project
*1969 Oldsmobile Toronado, not running but will
*1995 Chev Tahoe 350 1500 4dr 4wd current vehicle

RV's:

1958 GM 4104 Bus Conversion, lived in it for a year, yay no stress, no mortgage, cheap rent.
1973 Winnebago Brave Very short Dodge truck based RV. Was told it had a 'Industrial' 318 that ran backwards, okay... could be true?
1954 Boles Aero 21 foot Travel Trailer, needed resto
1963 Zephyr 15 foot Travel Trailer

Motorcycles:
1972? Keystone 2 stroke minibike, shared with my brother.
1972 Hodaka Ace 100 Dirt and street bike, enduro, off road only
1972 Honda 360 Twin street bike
1972 Suzuki 500 Titan twin street bike, made it to Sturgis and back (1976)
1974 Yamaha 400 Enduro
1982 Yamaha Virago 750
1982? Yamaha 1100 borrowed for a trip to Calgary.

My sister is Charlotte Light and Dark. Who am I?

my best friend bought an 86 Chevette 3 door back in 1992. It only had 72,000 miles on it. It was an automatic and he wind this thing out like it had VTEC on the side of it. I used to worry that the transmission was going to explode or something! It drove it to about 165,000 miles and sold it.

Mad props to you, A. Lien...

Ahh, cheers and thanks, I'll post and send you a pic of my old Beetle one of these days. Too much stuff on it in the garage at the moment for a decent shot.

Has a huge sunroof and cowl vents... 16 X 5 inch rims. In the fall of '52 they did some big changes, including vertical instead of lever shocks, hydraulic brakes replaced the mechanical cable or whatever they were. And they put on teh uber phat 5.60 X 15 low profile rims and tires, that would stay with the stock Beetle for most of it's lifespan.

Just an idea... but since your roof has some dentistry maybe cut it out and weld in a sunroof? I know someone who did this, to the '52 body I sold in the mid 70's.
The early sunroofs were longer, they shortened about '56?. There may be adaptations that look stock through the California VW resto places. Pardon Derail!
