You can't wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club.

Not too new in my book, but the peculiar pretzelmen are awesome.

http://www.myspace.com/pretzelmen

I they just played an art show I headlined and I'm going to do a music video with them. They're one of my favorite bands.

1. Devotchka - a mad and faithful telling

possibly one of the finest bands to ever emerge from the great city of Denver. think gogol bordello crossed with a mariachi band.

2. Metric - old world underground

i recently started listening to Metric, it's catchy.

3. Death Cab - narrow stairs

not newly discovered band, but new album. DO IT.

i post regularly in the current 'what are you listening to' thread, too.

Mighty Sphincter

These guys are a late 80s band that enver really made it. Sort of Goth before Goth, if that makes sense. The whole album (and I do mean vinyl album) is awash in blood, gore, severed heads and veiled satanic references. Worth checking out just for the amusement value.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

FUCK YES.

I had the good fortune to meet Bill Stevenson, the drummer, once in Ft. Collins where they record. Nice guy.

If you're liking the Melvins right now check out Phantomas, (it's King Buzzo with Mike Patton and some other members from Mr. Bungle), also known as Melvins/Phantomas Big Band.

Check out some live Melvins or Phantomas, even better than studio.

I just checked them out. It's nice to see a little humor in metal. Little repetitive, though.

Yea, The clean vocal parts all sound exactly the same.
I was shocked to discover the vocalist was a girl.
Only because her voice gets really low for a girl.
