I just got my new mouse and I must say I am never going back to whatever Logitech / Microsft spit out.

Razer Deathhadder.

This thing is FUCKING AMAZING. It holds amazing well in the hand. It's very comfortable. It's also extremely precise. I don't game but in photoshop and just all around usage it's great. The 1800dpi is very well worth it. For 60$ CND it's one hell of a mouse. Screw the MX1000.

However, the software / driver / firmware updater is completely ANAL with Vista. First mistake I did was to plug it in the USB port on my G15 keyboard. It worked fine until I install the drivers. My machine completely freezes. LCD on keyboard crashes... Humm. So I reboot. I plug the mouse in my MB and try again. Drivers won't install at all now. Keep getting the dumb 'windows has stopped responding'. Re-extract the drivers with winrar, works fine. Finally get the drivers installed, and try to update the firmware. Everything crashes again. So I retry, but this time I keep getting some message that it can't find the drivers. So I pull out my laptop with XP and everything works A1 on the first try.

So long Logitech LX-7.

I've had my G5 since around it was released, I can safely say i'm not going to have a battery powered mouse again. I chose it because I heard so-so things about razer mice.

I can't stand wireless mice, except mine.

(Mine is the sexier blue/black version as per in the links below)

Magnetic induction RFID 7-button wireless mouse from heaven.

The NB-57D mouse works through a process called ‘magic magnetism’, which is an apparent A4Tech concoction of electromagnetic induction and RFID technologies bundled into the kit. The NB-57D wireless optical mouse touts a compact body of 10g without a battery inside. By using new RF wireless technology, NB-57D mouse solves conventional signal interruption problem which often occurs when multiple mice are running in the same area.

It features ‘2XClick button’, which enable users to click just one time to operate programs instead of double-clicking, and ‘office (program map) button’ that can run programs right away without moving a mouse pointer.

It's never skipped. It's never lagged. It's never run out of batteries. I don't need to yank against it to move. No cables get in the way. Also it controls WinAMP and launches command prompts. 20$ and I've been using it for almost a year now.

I just use a wireless logitech (it came with my keyboard).

As for batteries, I use the same pair of rechargeables. I have a spare pair in the drawer I pop in when the batteries go dead. I can't stand wires and the range is incredible (I can play games from across the room) or control music, etc).
