Has anyone been by the intersection of Taunton Rd and Townline Rd at the border of Oshawa and Courtice?

IndianaTeach and I have keen keeping an eye on the Oshawa Cycle (all boarded up), The Village Garden (closed down) and the house on the SE corner (all boarded up). What are the plans for this corner - a Taunton Rd widening? I'd like that as the road bottlenecks at the Cineplex and becomes a mess during evening rush hour.

Haven't been out there lately but the next time we're there, we'll swing by.

I used to drive through there all the time. I couldn't imagine that cycle place all boarded up.

Likewise. My Dad's second shop was located in that area prior to his business closing down in the early 80s (Either 1982 or 1983).

Visited last year and took these pics. We were in the end unit of the white building. At the time we were there, the houses and the building past the school bus were not there. That was all farmer's fields at the time. I remember at night how dark the area was. The only real lights were the street lights at the intersection. The colour on the building is the same and that the exterior has not been painted at all. The only new thing I see is the window on the overhead door (it was clear when we were there) and the screen door looks like a replacement. When my Dad's business moved in, the building was brand new. If I remember correctly, that was in 1978.

I have been keeping an eye on it as well. Have not seen any activity at the gardening place for a long time. Noticed the cycle place close down and the house was the last place to be boarded up.

There's a decent condition white house on the NW corner that is not boarded (yet). Is it still home to someone?

I'd hate to live at such a busy corner. Back in the olden days, when this was a minor intersection and just surrounded by farms, it might have been OK. But now that Taunton Rd is a a de facto freeway (some people drive 100 or more), it's constantly busy.

There's demo equipment parked at Oshawa Cycle. Could be this week - not too long now...

Oshawa Cycle and the little white house on the NW corner of Townline/Taunton has been totally demolished. The mechanic garage on the NE corner is now fenced in and is next on the demo list.

All four corners of Taunton Rd and Townline Rd have been demolished of their buildings. It looks so stark and barren there now...
