A long time ago, I saw a child playing with a tangerine, the size of a tangerine.

What an utter waste of money. That cake doesn't even look particularly delicious. And the sad thing is that the children who get parties like this tend to grow up into the teenagers who get gifts like THIS:

Oh, I'm sick of doing Japanese things. In jail they made us be in this dumb Kabuki play about the Forty Seven Ronin, and I wanted to be Oshi, but they made me Ori!

How about this- be happy if I invite 10 of your loud ass obnoxious little school chums over to trash my house? I think one really good birthday thrown by your parents (something away from home, at a Chucky Cheese, wherever) is all you need. I had one really cool birthday at Discovery Zone, all others were at home until I was old enough to go out with my friends. Same with most of my friends, and we were happy about it.

So I said "Why don't you shove it where the sun don't shine" and so he did. He put it in the cupboard under the stairs and it hasn't been mentioned since.

Wow. Haha just wow. I don't think I ever had more than 3 parties - which we're only at McDonalds and maybe a roller skating place one year. I remember my mum saying one year, "What do you need a party for? One day your gonna hate getting older". This was the same woman who "forgot" to put the xmas presents under the tree when I was 5 haha.

My mom used to do about 2 grand at Christmas. But you have to consider she had also to buy for all 12 of my cousins on my dad's side of the family, her side, all four grandparents. Because that was "tradition", to have Christmas at my grandparents house with everyone making an appearance.

Birthday parties stopped at 11. Were about 500 each including gift. But we doubled up my sisters and my party, because our birthdays were so close.

It also family tradition to have a huge birthday party.

I feel sympathy for you, if someone chooses to have children, they need to understand that children need love and understanding. Children need a secure environment to live and grow in, they need their birthdays to be a special time, they need to feel loved. Christmas teaches children about 'giving' even if for the first dozen years or so, all they do is 'receive'

Parents need to raise their children properly. If they don't want to, they shouldn't have had the children to begin with.

She wasn't a bad parent. Just cynical.
