Two Showcase Cinemas close

Showcase Cinemas outlets in Bond Hill and Erlanger closed today, with signs directing visitors to other Showcase locations.

Spokeswoman Tracy King of National Amusements, operator of the Showcase chain, declined to comment.

She said the company would issue a statement .

The Showcase chain operates in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky at Kenwood Towne Centre, Cincinnati Mills, Springdale, Florence, Huber Heights, Western Hills, Milford and the Kings Island area.

The company is scheduled to open a 16-screen Cinema de Lux theater in Florence in July.

The Bond Hill Showcase is at 1701 Showcase Drive, near the Norwood Lateral and Reading Road (U.S. 42).

The Erlanger facility is at 3220 Meadow Lane, near the Interstate 275 interchange with Interstate 71-75.

National Amusements, based in Dedham, Mass., operates more than 1,500 screens internationally under its Showcase, Cinema de Lux, KinoStar and Multiplex brands.

the bond hill one could be tough because of its visibility from the highway. i would love to go but i'm in connecticut thursday to monday

I'm definitely down as soon as I get back from Athens. I went to a movie at the bond hill one once, thought I was going to get mugged in the dark theatre.

They are in some sketchy neighborhoods, and I'm sure entry would be tough.. there's not really that many doors/windows into a theater, but they seem like they'd be awesome inside.

So is anyone up for trying these out? I don't think I've seen too many abandoned movie theater photos before.

Still listed as being owned by National Amusements. I haven't been by either of them, but am always interested if there are a few people willing to check them out.

It seems like the huge expanse of open parking lot surrounding the buildings would make it tough to sneak up to them, though.

May be in town on the weekend of November 8th. Thinking about checking these out.

Right now, my dad is pretty sick, depending on how he feels this weekend I may or may not be able to go exploring this weekend. But I will be free two weekends from now when fall break for me begins. Any of you Cincy gents free this fall? I think its time for a winter meet up!
