| | | Posted by bandi I've always enjoyed being around the aircooled VW crowd... just one big happy family. The Porsche crowd has 2 different types... the guys with "real" Porsches like 911s, 356s, 914s (YES the 914 is a real Porsche, VW or not) seem to be a pretty decent crowd, but the guys with wannabe Porsches like 924s and 944 (Sorry if I offend anyone with that comment, but these cars are fucking awful and don't deserve the nameplate. I worked on Porsches exclusively for 2 years.) are generally VERY pretentious "Look at me, I have a Porsche" type people. Having said that... would I buy a 924 or 944? Yeah. Yeah I probably would. I left the 928 out of both of these groups, those owners seem to be hit and miss. And if you're wondering... I LOVE the german Camaro.
...do I generalize too much? lol
| I agree the 924 is really more of an Audi than a Porsche, but the 944 is a fucking great car, plain and simple. Sure it's hard to maintain, but the performance is amazing, especially the Turbo and S2 models. I watched a 944 Turbo smoke some kind of hopped up 2000 Mustang GT because it was so much faster through the turns. I don't want a Porsche so I can show off, I want one because I fucking love the cars and their performance. I don't care if your front wheel drive American car is faster than mine in a dead straight line, mine is still a hell of a lot more fun on those twisty mountain roads where sports cars belong. A 911 is still better though, haha. If I could afford it, I would have one right now. But I'll have to wait a while before that happens...
| If Abercrombie suddenly decided that breathing wasn't cool, Half of American teens would have died within the past 24 hours. |

| | | as i stated in the urbexmobiles thread, be careful what American car you pick a fight with on a twisty road, you just might get a surprise... You might get your little Teutonic ass handed to you. We ain't talkin' 'bout no Cavaliers or Escorts here, baby. Did you see the new Cobalt SS Turbo? It pulls 0.92g on the skidpad... here's the linky to the road & track article: http://www.roadand...=2&article_id=6881 highlights: Price As Tested $23,490 MPG 22 city/30 highway/26.0 average 0–60 mph 5.5 sec. | N/A 924 is actually quicker than the N/A 944... identical car aside from body styling, and it weighs much less. They're not even that much of a bear to maintain if they've been looked after... just make sure the timing/balance shaft belts have been done, and done right. Oh, and it's the biggest pain in the ass clutch I've ever changed in my life.

*cough* front wheel drive *cough* For that money, you could get a pretty good used 996 Carrera Horse Power @ RPM: 325@6800 Curb Weight: 3077.5 lbs. skidpad .97 Quarter Mile time: 12.8 sec. 0-60 time: 4.3 sec. Top Speed: 180 mph Displacement: 3596 Cc Torque @ RPM: 4250 Engine: 3.6 liter Flat-6 Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
