I can not stand it when people who can not take a proper photograph spend tons of time trying to market themselves as professional photographers. It really makes me furious. If they spent half as much time learning proper techniques and how to use a fully manual camera then they would probably get somewhere. To many people these days pick up a camera for the first time and like it(which is awesome)but then they think that automatically makes it ok to say they are photographers. How does someone say about themselves they are photographers and look at their pictures that look like shit and know they do not know hardly anything about cameras and not feel like a complete tool. The only thing this kid has going for him is the fact that he has duck hunt on his guest book. That is my rant for the day. Feel free to flame me.

Do I try to sell anything? Unlike our friend i just posted about I do not think I am at the level to be doing things like that. I keep it real I don't have to call myself a professional and market my shitty photos to feel good about myself.

I'm generally with you on this one though. I feel the same way about people who refer to themselves as "fine art" photographers.

You obviously do not know me or understand my hate for people who do things like this in all aspects of life. If someone picked up a skate board, did five tricks and tried to become a professional skateboarder. I would be just as mad. I hate people who try to pretend they are something they are not. It disgusts me to think somebody is ok with being a complete fake in life.

This doesn't involve you in the least. If this guy wants to try to sell stuff, he will probably fail. There is a good chance that he will actually have a tiny bit of success, simply because he has done something.

Who said I was unwilling to try? Because I don't feel like doing it yet? That is unwilling to try? Because I want to have more experience and make sure I am producing the best possible images I can first? Unlike you, I am only 25. I have plenty of time in years to come to improve to a point I feel I am ready.

I don't get why you're all ragging on him, just because he personally hasn't sold any of his own photos. His rant is about fakes who try to pass themselves off as competent, dragging the rest of us (you?) down. If he is competent, then what's the problem with him choosing not to sell his work? It's like telling a writer he has no right to complain about a plumber's shitty work, simply because he never went into plumbing. Doesn't make sense, makes you look stupid.

I personally quite agree with him, though my cynicism compells me to point out he probably sells at least ten of that shot alone per day.

It's all just internet love, so no big dealeo, but the thing is, when Person A gets pissed off because someone ELSE is doing something that has zero affect on Person A, then there is probably something going on with Person A that they aren't really addressing.

I've never sold anything. I think about it occasionally, and I know that I could sell a few things things, but I just don't have the desire to make the effort, partly because I wouldn't want to do it half-assed, and partly because I wouldn't like it every single time that someone DOESN'T buy something when I want them to. I agree that this guy is a pud, and does shit work, but, hey, he's got the desire, and is making the effort, even if he doesn't have the talent.
