Friend of mine has a 2007 Kia Spectra... with an automatic transmission.
at 17,000 miles, said auto just failed. Figured no problem, Kia supposedly has a really good warranty.

Eh.
Guess again.
Read the fine print... the warranty for engine and transmission is invalid if you live or regularly drive the car in mountainous terrain.

how is that for a sharp stick up the ass.

that was on a Hyundai Elantra... Since Kia and Hyundai are the same company. If you're going to buy import, at least buy Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen., et al... those Korean car companies seem shifty.

i tried out a Daewoo Lanos back in late 2000... what a piece of shit.
Did you ever see the movie Gung Ho, where at the end, the cars literally fall apart? That was a Daewoo Lanos... calling it a piece of shit was an insult to shit everywhere.

Im sorry if I upset anyone but I stand by my mindset about these Korean vehicles...... "Throw Away Cars"

How's this for a kick in the oblongs, my best friend had a gorgeous 95 BMW M3 with only 25k on the odometer. It was immaculate. So what does he do? He sells it and buys a Hyundai Azerra. He keeps saying it looks and feels like a Mercedes and I keep saying that he is full of shit and has lost his mind.

And he makes fun of my Camaro.

drools....

You can only make fun of Camaros when you have an M3..... but when you're rocking an Asian Car, you are probably on the bottom of the food chain.... (GTR, S15, and Supra excluded...)

hehehe... I had to. Sorry, BK!

the last time I posted those was over on either J-body.org or CobaltSS.net... there was a bounty on my scalp for a week or so. I, personally, won't own, or drive, or have in my yard anything that does not have GM on it somewhere.

Yeah I know Sam. my feelings are still hurt from seeing those the first time.

The first one hits hardest since I have a 79, but the first one is almost as bad since I had a 96 Z28.

Oh and Sam, we can play games all day. Just generated this especially for you and the Kobalt Boyz.

But wait arent we on the same team? lol

I would personally love to find a 1978-1981 Chevy Camaro, preferably a Z28.
everything up here has rust.

Thats pretty shitty.

How can they really prove you drove on that terrain though ?

My buddies dad is a lawyer, and they always get told by the dealership " no we wont fix it under warranty " when it comes to his 07 Evo. Then they always file arbitration , and voila fixed under warranty.

I would say dont give up the fight just yet.

Where we live is pretty far from the rest of the world and the dealership where they bought the car delivered it. Since they dropped the car off, they know we live in the foothills of the Adirondacks. The car was routinely driven into Lake Placid which is all uphill from here, therefore the warranty went buh-bye. Sometimes I think they offer delivery to see where you live and what conditions the car is going to be driven in.

As for warranty hell, the only warranty sharp stick I had experienced was with my 05 Cobalt. The paint had really begun to fade/come off the car in, what I thought, was a pretty short period of time. I had contacted the dealer and they said no because I had aftermarket wheels and tires on the car. The wheels and tires were the same size/offset as the factory wheels and tires, but GM sided with the dealer. I angrily told the representative on the other end of the phone that that must be one hell of a set of tires for the paint to be coming off the back edge of the hood and leading edge of the spoiler!

^ now that takes the cake for warranty issues !

Ive always been told, when it comes to aftermarket stuff, the dealer HAS to prove that the certain aftermarket part in question caused the fault on the car that needs repairing. Or they cant deny it.

Out here in vegas , Friends of mine fight dealerships on the daily and 80% of the time win.

Before I bought my car I looked online to see how good my dealership was about honoring warranty. and was told several times as long as I got my oil changed at the dealer I should never have a problem. We will see when the day comes I need to take my 2008 Tiburon in.

Back to my misguided buddy who traded the M3 for the Hyundai.

He just took it in to have the back sun visor fixed (never worked to begin with) and came out of the dealer with a new sun visor and a super cool 3 foot scratch (more like gash) taken out of the bumper cover. He takes it back in and they say no it was there. Funny thing is, is they tried to hide it by using touch up.......wrong shade though.

Also I went into a Hyundai dealer here in town to get parts for a Santa Fe I was working on at our shop. I looked back in the service bay and I never seen a more stupid looking bunch of Techs in my life. They were like a bunch of monkeys fuckin a football.

Strange, I've owned two Hyundais and never had an issue. When the starter motor died on one, it was replaced inside a week, and never had an issue.

Of course, I'm in Australia, not the USA, maybe that means something, who knows?

I will say this, the new Genesis is a pretty sharp looking ride. I guess the 4 doors are selling for 50k right now.
