Only a few thousand 2CVs were sold in North America when they were new: as in England their pricing was excessive relative to competitors. Unlike larger Citroëns, there are no legal issues with owning a 2CV however - the car is effectively a restored pre-1968 vehicle. It was one of these vehicles that became the focus of a recent news story, when musician Billy Joel had an accident in his 2CV in 2004, on Long Island, New York [2]. Joel gave another 2CV to his bride Christie Brinkley as a present.

Actually you can import ANY vehicle into Canada, as long as it's 15 years or older.

I drove an '82 2CV-6 (Charleston edition!) for most of last summer, and absolutely loved it. Yeah, it's so so so underpowered (and sounds like a Lawn Boy at idle) but there's something about those cars that I just really like... although I do have a soft spot for most oddball cars. I do have to admit, it was kinda scary driving on the 401 though... when minivans passed me, the car would get blown around. And yeah, it DID go fast enough for the 401... JUST.

I think my favourite feature was either the manual headlight tilt knob on the dash, so you can aim the beam up or down, or the inboard single disc brake on the front axle assembly.

As for crash safety... they pretty much have the structural rigidity of a tent. There was a video on Youtube of a big truck smashing into a row of 5 or 6 parked cars... the 2CV in this row VANISHES!

It's weird they made such a primitive car for so long, when in the 50's they has the DS, which was such a technologically advanced car for the time, and again, the SM in the 70's. I've worked on both, and they're super impressive cars. I mean, the styling is pretty bizzare, but as far as innovations are concerned, wow... yet, the 2CV by the 80's, still didn't have roll down windows.

There's a ham up in Blaine, WA who has an 2CV. He loves the fact its easy to install antennas as he says "you just need a butter knife to cut a hole!".

The 2CV went butt over apex about 7 times down the runway and was well phucked when it landed. Just thought it was amusing...

There's a guy around my way who has a 2CV, too.

But if you want really funny, try running a 2CV around Monte Carlo in Gran Turismo 4. And watch them almost fail to make it up the hill after the first corner...

we have a show here called "Mythbusters" and one of the myths they were testing was whether or not the jet wash would be enough to turn over a car. They got what passes for a full-size car here (Dodge Intrepid) and cranked the jet engines up to take-off power... it flipped the car over. Then they tried a bus... (hehehe) sent it flying.

Didn't know Mythbusters did the same thing. I know Top gear managed to completely stuff a 2CV and make a nice mess out of a Ford Mondeo (sort of mid size 2 litre car). Was bloody funny.

we had the Ford Mondeo here, only it was called the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique

It's "Mistake" not "Mystique" ...hehehe

Boxster, Cayenne are fantastic to drive.... even back to the late 90's first go-round with the Boxster before the motor/HP increase. Yeah the Cayenne is an SUV, but take one for a rip and it makes for one hell of a fun tour if you're willing to close your eyes when approaching and getign into the thing, to not have your eyeballs burned by it's horrid looks.
I suspect the Cayman and even the upcoming Panamera (4 door sedan) from Porsche will be true Porsche driving experiences as well

The Cayman is an epic little car. Lots of power, perfect weight distribution, and it's dead sexy.

I'd sure as hell take one!
