Very cool sound, very absurd lyrics. My new ear worm addiction.

I'll miss the playground and the animals and digging up worms.

I hate being a music snob, but MGMT is just another hipster pop/synth/electronica band that's going to be forgotten next year. Anyone remember Hot Chip? Didn't think so. Yeah, they're catchy, but that never alone makes music good. Time to pretend has cheesy lyrics, annoying music, and airtime on every radio station in the US. Sorry people, that's the triple threat of a shitty band.

They have great singles, but the rest of the album is pretty damn boring. Kids is so great though

and please, Hot Chip was NEVER as big as MGMT has gotten. [or good.]

...and so what if they're a one hit wonder? Or one album wonder, for that matter. They've had major hits with this record, so they can pretty much retire and spend their remaining days surfing, smoking weed and nailing groupies.

A top ten single in the United States translates into a minimum seven figure pay off. This band has had (to my knowledge) two or three hits in a summer market that is swamped with many other players.

Anyone remember that Sex and Candy song from 10 years ago by Marcy's Playground. ONE song turned these guys into millionaires. Steel My Sunshine turned LEN into millionaires. These were Canadian markets, a mere fraction of the American field.

And 10 years later this post didn't quite play out as the poster thought.
MGMT has an album coming out sometime in 2018 and they are still touring.
