Skype/Paypal Scam

So, apparently I was overdrawn on my bank account for over $240 in Skype charges via my Paypal.
Have not used Paypal in months, and used Skype never.
I contacted Paypal and told them there "security" was shit. They told me to contact Skype.
(yay, let me try to get ahold of a company that has no phone number and isn't even located in the US)
Paypal is doing the whole 30 day investigation thing. I now have to close my bank account, hope that my money gets replaced, and hope that my credit info is not in jeopardy.
I don't understand how it would be possible for someone to just use your Paypal information and charge things on it. Paypal insists this wasn't their fault.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? Im highly doubting I will hear anything back from Skype. I don't have the 30 days to wait for Paypal to give me my money back either.

I can't wait until this is fixed so I can immediately close my Paypal account.Folks be weary of any charges being made to your Paypal if you have one.

Skype is owned by Ebay.

They have this on there website that leads to a site which is some gibble shit ( depends on server):

I’m getting a message that says "Payment, customer support etc. for you is being handled by Skype's partner, Yandex". What does it mean?

This message indicates that your payment and customer support is handled by Yandex because you have registered through the Yandex-Skype website.

In order to provide you with the best possible service Yandex handles all support for Yandex-Skype registered users. Please contact Yandex directly with any inquires regarding your account, payments and troubleshooting.

Use this link here to file a claim.
http://support.skype.com

Also, Paypal should put a lock on your account until it is deemed safe. Your security is deemed your own and thats why I leave no money in paypal. Always use a credit card that offers ghost numbers that are worthless after one use.

The out of country site is because they routed you to the server customer service. I could go find Ebay number as I use to work at one of the top stores, but it take me ages to find it.

Thanks.
I emailed Skype already in hopes they will get back to me.
Paypal has put a hold on my account. What happened is I have my bank account linked to Paypal that way I can just transfer my money between the two. My balance was $0, but once the purchases were made they went and took it out of my bank account.

I read that contacting the CEO of ebay will get something moving. I guess I will have to see what my bank says tomorrow.

Well if it is a checking account with fraud protection up to a certain amount your bank should cover you. Never leave your bank account attached to auto bill paying or places where people can draw money out. As this incident may hurt your credit score so you need to act on this fast.

Skype is required by law to email you back on fraud imo.

It sounds like either your paypal account was already associated with a skype account and someone got your skype password, or someone got your paypal password and then associated it with a skype account. Regardless, control must have been gained somewhere so I suggest you change all your passwords.

Did you click on any paypal links you received in your email? That is one of the more common ways for your account to get hijacked.

I think it was that my Paypal password got associated with a Skype account. I've never used Skype, or even visited their webpage before all this. I don't know how they got my password, as I am extremely cautious never to click on those Paypal emails. Not even if I think they are legit.

The bank is investigating the charges, as well as Paypal. The bank reversed my overdraft fees, so now its -$130 until the Paypal charges are removed.
I also got a new bank account and debit card. Lovely how these people don't care what kind of hassle they cause when they do this shit.
