I had a cat that died after 17 years of loyal, loving companionship. After she died I got a new kitty. It came with one year's cat licensing. After the year was over the city kept sending goons over to collect on future years dues. I keep my cat indoors 24/7. Why do I need a license? The goon came to my door and sees that cat chillin' inside. "Aha! So you DO have a cat. $25 please". Cat police, fuck!

My boys aren't registered and they won't be registered. I don't care if it is the law. My cats are wild and free and the man isn't going to assign them a number.

I got a notice in my mailbox maybe a year ago stating it was now Toronto law that all cats must be registered and wear rabies collars at all times. Well, I did put the rabies collars on, but my cats hate collars and it didn't take long before they came home without them on.

I once tried to get a license for my pet fish, Eric, but the clerk didn't have a clue what he was talking about. I also had some trouble getting a license for Eric the half bee. I don't know what the postal service is coming to, these days.

.....

I don't remember who I was talking to about this but they informed me that where they live, cat licenses are required. They also expire at the beginning of February, but the public is unable to obtain licences until March. So there is an entire month of illegal cats.

The person I spoke with had been given a citation by a police officer during this time period, for having her cat unlicensed.

... I don't know much more, because I wasn't very interested. I was too busy thinking about fish licenses

My baby and I today, chillin. <3 I'll take care of her licensing after I get all my debts settled out, which will be to say: never. I'm really glad I get to keep her though, otherwise she might have gotten put down if she stayed where she was at!

No offense but damn that cat looks HUGE lol...

Shouldn't your cat already be registered once it has rabies shot? I mean 2 registration is enough. I think the local government sees a way to make money. Coming soon...taxes on online purchases.

If Moriah wants to make me get a license for my cats and make me put collars on them, even though they're big chickenshit babies that never go out of my damn house...they'll do it over my dead body.

A cat that goes outside, I can understand maybe having a collar unless they go into forested areas, then they could get hurt with one on because of it getting hooked on a tree branch or something. My cats already have microchips in them because I couldn't trust my ex neighbors. They're purebred cats, so we chipped them just in case someone tried to take them. When they were babies and even now, they trust people and if someone tried to take one of them, they'd go willingly, especially with a handful of cat treats as bait. So we put chips in them.

I could understand putting something else on the chip about being licensed or whatever, but if they want that, then they can pay to have my cats rechipped. I won't put collars on them, they don't even know what a collar is, they think collars are toys, even though they have to have a collar and a leash when they go to the vet. They spend half the day playing with it.

Got nailed earlier this year by the dog catcher. Poppy didn't have her license but fortunately she was in the house.

The guy identified himself, just finished asking if we had a dog and as I opened my mouth to answer, Poppy opened her big mouth! All I could do is say "Yup we have a dog and she doesn't have a license."

"Okay. I'll be back on Tuesday. I can issue one to you then." was his reply.

"No problem. I'll be home then. Got the week off."

The guy leaves and after Shutterbug and I talked it over, decided to get one from the local hardware store. (They sell dog licenses).

Got it on Monday but the guy didn't show on Tuesday.

I found that if you just say so and don't give attitude or other crap, they tend to be more lenient.

What really bothers me about this is they don't do anything to the guys that like run to South America and get these stupid exotic animals they don't take care of and have no idea how to take care of.

They make people that have normal dogs and cats get licenses, but the idiot with the piranha or three toed sloth or whatever doesn't have to get one, even if the pet is illegal, sometimes they don't take it away from the owner, if it's had good care and isn't harming anyone.

But still...shouldn't those guys have to buy licenses too?

The whole cat thing is crazy! I live in a rural area. On a monthly basis cats get dumped off at my house and across the road. Ya they live here in my barn and the neighbors but not by my choice or their's. I can't shoot them and I am not going to drop them off at a shelter, the cost is nuts. Soooooo they are not mine, I did not ask for them but I will drop food in a bucket for them, how can I be held accountable?

Actually, they should go to jail, and the animals should be returned to the wild (if possible).

Found her inside an abandoned school, she was three months old and malnourished.

She turned out to be the best cat I've ever had.

My sister walked in my house unannounced one evening with her neighbor girl, thus scaring the shit out of my dogs, a jack russel and a rat terrier, needless to say, you dont just walk in my house especially when you are a stranger. Long story short, my rat terrier bit the girl, she had to get stitches and i got reported even though they entered my house without invitation. He had all his shots but I didnt have him licensed, so i had to run out and pay 8 bucks to get him a friggin license. I didnt get in any trouble and the girl is no longer allowed in my house. Did it teach my sister a lesson? No. I came home the other day and she was sitting in my living room. I had run to the store and left the door open. Idiot her.

My house is posted with beware of dog signs.

If it had been a stranger sitting on your couch instead of your sister, since you'd left that front door open ... would you have said, "Idiot me," instead?

I cant believe she even got in the house but the dogs were still in their crates. I never do that anymore..it pisses me off that she still walks in my house!
