Well, does your dentist understand that you're clenching and not grinding? My sister grinds, so my dentist assumed I do, too. I only clench. I suffered with a soft one for years.

Here's how it works ... if you get a soft one and you only clench, you will end up using it as a chewtoy. It might get better for a few days, but then it will actually get worse because you're able to apply more pressure.

However, if you get an acrylic one for clenching (NOT grinding), your muscles will release because you're biting into something hard.

huh. thanks for the advice. yeah i TOLD my dentist from the start, i am clenching. not grinding. and he said yeah i can tell by your teeth you are clenching. and that means you need a soft one. which obviously has not helped. so i go to some guy who calls himself a tmj specialist, and he says yeah those soft ones are no good, blah blah, do more harm than good, etc etc you need a HARD one. so now im getting a hard one. whee.

i want a hard one.
