Dead battery?

This morning I was getting ready to go to school, but when I tried to start my truck (2000 Dodge Dakota) it turned over about twice & then nothing worked.
When I turn my ignition on, my air barely comes out, & nothing electrical besides door locks are working, and they weren't even working when it first happened.
So, I called my friend and gave me a ride.
When we got out, he came over & we attempted to jump start my truck. Nothing happened.
Also, the positive tit on my battery is corroded.
What is wrong?

First things first make sure your leads and terminals are clean.....use a wire brush, if you dont have a brush a rag will suffice for now. And dont do the old trick with coke, it doesnt work. Try jumping it after you clean them up. Also if you are not doing it already attach the ground (black) cable to a good ground metal on metal and not the negative terminal on the battery (on the dead car).

If it doesnt start then take it out and get your buddy to drive you and the battery up to your local auto parts store (Autozone(sux), O'Reily's, Western Auto etc etc.), they will test it free of charge and if case may be Im sure they would be thrilled to sell you a new one.

*make sure to put dielectric (regular works too) grease on the leads and terminals for a better connection*

Eh.
I think I just killed it when I changed gears with the engine off.
I don't know.
It's recharging itself now, the interior lights turn on.
I'm just going to put it on charge tomorrow.

Corrosion on the terminals in never a real good sign, though. I'd also have a bit of a look at the battery itself, make sure it's not 'bulging' or anything. I'd suspect a cell in the battery may be low voltage.
