So I recently took a promotion in another department where I work. When asked by my soon to be old director(my boss's boss) why I was leaving one of the reason's I gave was that I didn't get along with my current boss and I thought I could do a better job at running the department. So, my boss(sam) got demoted today for performance issues and during the conversation between him and the director my comments were mentioned. Now Sam totally hates my guts and says he is going to get revenge on me. I talked to the director and he says that my comments had zero influence on his decision and informed Sam of that fact. Doesn't matter, he still wants to spill my blood so to speak. He is a douche bag who did nothing but screw off for the last year in his managerial position and is now trying to blame me for getting demoted. What a prick! Is there something I am missing here? Now I have to watch my back because this guy is out to get me.

You are missing something, the extra money. A promotion is a fancy way of saying it doesn't matter what we pay ya, it will never be worth the extra headache Plus since you seem like an all around cool guy, dude's a jerkoff.

You are probably missing the part where your employer isn't supposed to tell other workers what you said so situations like this don't happen.
Most companies have that whole "open door" thing. You can come freely to them with concerns and they are supposed to keep it confidential.

Let the management know what this guy is doing. Because I'm sure he is pissed and will likely try to make your life miserable. That way at least your ass is covered for the time being.

I can't wait to move. Tense isn't even the word. It's been like one of those wild west stand off's here at work. I can almost here the good,bad and the ugly soundtrack playing in the background. lol.

This is really an issue for your HR (Human Resources) dept if you have one. Any time someone gets out of hand, threatens you or acts inappropriately you should go to HR and get it documented so when the shit hits the fan your ass is covered.
