http://www.youtube...atch?v=gy7desFAUEQ Don't let anybody see you spending too much time on a video game or social interaction site, because someone's watching you.
This really pisses me off to no end. What makes me more upset is people telling me that I shouldn't care about it if I'm not doing anything wrong.
No one has any right spying on you online, unless there's a damn good reason for it and a social study isn't a good reason for it.
I treat people in Warcraft the way I want to be treated, I've never been banned from the boards or the game itself. But I hate the idea that my IP address and what I'm writing or typing to other people can come under governmental scrutiny just because I spend a good deal of time playing a video game.
I knew this was coming, and it really pisses me off. No one has the right to spy on me without probable cause and my behavior in a video game or on a forum should not be probable cause for it. I certainly hope Blizzard sees this and adds something to the terms of service about it. It's big enough of an incursion on my privacy that I will quit if they add to the TOS that I have to agree to allowing the government to see everything I do, even though I don't do anything against the terms of service and I don't treat anyone badly.
It's bad enough that everything you do or have on your character in game is logged, but it's infuriating when the government is allowed to look at that information and look for "suspect" behavior, possibly using it to get an FBI wiretap or internet watch on you because you were rude to another player or something, at this point, I'll believe they take anything that bothers anyone else or is against the rules as a possible indication of criminal behavior.
I hate the way the world is going, I really do and I hope like hell that things change, because if they don't, I may just get rid of the internet in my home completely, because I like my privacy. The Constitution used to afford me free speech and the freedom to be an asshole, even when I wasn't. Maybe I should have been when I could have without impunity.
