True there. Or how about "Forget the damn dog. You can get another one."

Very cold attitude there. Was that cop trying to provoke the guy even more?

That cop could easily have sparked a violent incident with his attitude. This situation could have been handled much better.

I would like to see the cop use that attitude on the members of the K9 team. He would get his ass kicked really fast.

I guess Im going to play devils advocate a little here.

I'm a dog person, I have 2 dogs and Love them both dearly as im sure the man being stopped loves/loved his dog.

Although yes,the man is seriously upset and worried about his pooch and wants to make sure he can get care for him, by watching the video we can not establish the condition of the dog.

1.the man states his dog was bleeding.. we dont know why its bleeding or even how much..the dog could have been hit by a car or for all we know he could have clipped the dogs nail to short and got the quick and that started bleeding..

2. we dont have the privilege of seeing the rest of the dash cam video..we dont know how long the police had been attempting to pull him over.the officer states he was going OVER 100mph..(so depending which state that took place in that could be anywhere from 25mph or 45mph or more)that combined with the fact that he wasnt pulling over and the windows were tinted the police cant tell whats going on inside the suv.they could have been loading guns for all the police knew, that tends to put police on edge these days with all the police shootings and such.No on seems to concerned with the people he could have possibly killed with his driving.

3.although upset, how many of us know better then to walk away ,not pay attention and act fidgety when dealing with police?

4.several times throughout the video you can see where some had been cut out. we dont know what was done or said by the man in the suv. of course whoever posted the video is going to make it look bad for the sake of making it look bad on the officer.

again..
I am a dog lover and have two of my own and i dread the day anything should happen to either, but c'mon people you mean to tell me the guy was using common sense in this situation?

I dont get the mentality of the people who sit there and make statements such as

" this cop should be shot in the face. What a cocksucker. I don't think there's any way I would've been able to stop myself from punching him in the face and driving away."

" Fuck this cop. I hope his wife and kids get killed because of something he's done so he has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life."

" I would like to see the cop use that attitude on the members of the K9 team. He would get his ass kicked really fast. "

and to comment on the last quote

I'd like to see those comments above used face to face with any officer, I'm sure it would'nt be too pretty either.

we dont know the circumstances involved in the parts video we can not see (the parts before what we see or parts removed to "edit for time")

I am completely amazed at some of the idiot comments made above weather they are really felt or just said to come off sounding like a tough guy I dont know, but I bet if someone said the exact same to any of you for those comments so you could see how it feels to know that kinda pain you would flip the fuck out.

I can see getting upset and signing a petting trying to get the man fired, but truth is he was doing his job and although he is an officer of the law he is still human and susceptible to emotions when faced with circumstances shown and not shown in the video.

I side with the officer.

by the way

Um, the dog DIED. I'm pretty sure the condition was LESS THAN STABLE.

1.the man states his dog was bleeding.. we dont know why its bleeding or even how much..the dog could have been hit by a car or for all we know he could have clipped the dogs nail to short and got the quick and that started bleeding..

What? Where does he say it was bleeding? He said "DYING" not bleeding. DYING. You know how we know it was dying in that video? BECAUSE IT DIED.

2. we dont have the privilege of seeing the rest of the dash cam video..we dont know how long the police had been attempting to pull him over.the officer states he was going OVER 100mph..(so depending which state that took place in that could be anywhere from 25mph or 45mph or more)that combined with the fact that he wasnt pulling over and the windows were tinted the police cant tell whats going on inside the suv.they could have been loading guns for all the police knew, that tends to put police on edge these days with all the police shootings and such.No on seems to concerned with the people he could have possibly killed with his driving.

And after he pulled them over, they discovered that they weren't doing any of these things. There was, indeed, a SICK, CHOKING, AND DYING DOG in the back seat. The officers SHOULD have escorted them to the animal hospital and THEN, if they still wanted to, they could have written the ticket. Hell, they could even have MAILED them a ticket!

3.although upset, how many of us know better then to walk away ,not pay attention and act fidgety when dealing with police?

Wow, you'd be level-headed, attentitive, and NOT hysterical if one of your beloved dogs suddenly was ill and dying?

You know, that officer was ordered to undergo counseling, probably for the fact that he displayed symptoms of antisocial personality disorder. You and that officer might have quite a bit in common, if you think you'd be acting all sunshine and lollipops in that situation.

4.several times throughout the video you can see where some had been cut out. we dont know what was done or said by the man in the suv. of course whoever posted the video is going to make it look bad for the sake of making it look bad on the officer.

Oh my god. Maybe I think this statement is ridiculous, simply because I saw the original NEWS story when it broadcasted on TV.
Here's a link to a more reputable video/website about the incident:
http://abcnews.go....?id=5601299&page=1
Did you stop to think that they may have edited the video for time? Or to demonstrate the HORRENDOUS things that spewed from that officer's mouth?

but c'mon people you mean to tell me the guy was using common sense in this situation?

Of COURSE he wasn't! Who the fuck would? If you honestly believe that YOU would, than you're either a sociopath, or you're seriously not very self-aware! This kind of reaction is a VERY NORMAL, COMMON, NATURAL reaction to this type of situation --- EVEN IF ONLY PERCEIVED! Christ. You're the guy that fails the psychology exam, aren't you?

I am completely amazed at some of the idiot comments made above weather they are really felt or just said to come off sounding like a tough guy I dont know, but I bet if someone said the exact same to any of you for those comments so you could see how it feels to know that kinda pain you would flip the fuck out.

First of all, grammar is your friend. I know you OBVIOUSLY had a huge fight, but grammar is ready to take you back. Please, be kind to grammar.

Second, if you were put in that situation, I'd like to see how you'd react to someone telling you that you could get a NEW dog to replace the one that is going to die while you're getting a speeding ticket that could have been handled differently. Frankly, I think the man in the video handled it far better than he could have.

And don't try to say that you'd react calmly or whatever -- you wouldn't. Unless you're abnormal and really FUCKED UP in the head, you're going to respond very similarly to this guy. The part of your nervous system that is aroused there is totally automatic, and you won't physically be ABLE to calm down or be "not fidgity." PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. I know you probably haven't been educated on the brain and behavior or psychology (clearly), but let me tell you: you can't fix this shit until your body decides to fix it!

he was doing his job and although he is an officer of the law he is still human and susceptible to emotions when faced with circumstances shown and not shown in the video.

Really? His job is to serve and protect. Frankly, he could have BETTER done his job had he provided that man an ESCORT to the animal hospital, or taken the man and the dog in his back seat and DRIVEN them there, himself. THEN, he could have written a ticket.

The officer DID do part of his job: pre-emptive protecting. However, he could have "served AND protected" had he handled it like a human being.

ok with all that said..

I went back and watched the video again.

youre right, its condition was less then stable before the man got out of the suv and the officer had any clue what was going on.

at about 7 seconds) my dog just died... (this is just after getting out of the suv, and before the officer could have known what was going on,which is why the officer asks...whats going on)

from that point on the officer tells the man to calm down and stay right there and asks him who is dieing and the man states again.. my dog just died, my dog is dead..

again.he started saying this before the officer detained him for any amount of time.

so pretty much making all your points useless anyway since if the dog was already dead..there was no need to let the man rush off causing further risk to anyone else.

and you must have some sort of disorder to then right? anger issue maybe? or who knows what else, I simply gave my opinion on the video and the reactions and you fly off the handle and start a personal attack against me?. wow, youre mature huh?.

seriously, how level headed is that?

and yes, I have had pets die. and it sucks. I have been seriously upset when it happened but did I flip shit on the guy who hit my dog or the cops who showed up to take the report?. no. because although upsetting, the dog was already dead and it was an accident.

cant you just have a normal conversation without going into angry mode and trying to diagnose anyone and using personal attacks?

Hey pal, this is the pissed off board of the website! Therefore; whining about people arguing with you makes you look like a silly nanny.

Get your panties in a bunch elsewhere, and go post something about exploring.

not really whining about it so much as asking if the personal attacks and attempts to try and diagnose people were needed when I wasnt doing as such, merely trying to discuss an issue.

I mean, isnt that what forums are for?

and yes I will post about exploring but as I said( how ever many times) I am new to the site and havent been able to post untill this morning (and havent been home since a bit before my posts) and I was starting off slow by posting here instead of jumping in balls to the wall posting threads or comments about exploring when i dont have my pictures to go along with those posts.

but thank you at least for taking a much calmer approach (and that is not meant to be a smartass type comment)

Indeed it's an internet forum and tempers flare over multitudinous topics such as dogs and cops and cats.... But in the end if we all take a moment to think to ourselves "what would obama do?" we'll learn to coexist peacefully.

That being said, it probably would have been better to see some exploring comments, even without pictures to back them up, instead of this as an introduction. But that's no reason for me to hold a grudge, so it's all good. Let cooler heads prevail and we'll get right back into the swing of things.

Welcome to the site, and if you have any questions/need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask!
