Just to be clear... there is no qualification to be president. No one who has ever gotten the job has had experience relevant to the job. Some people in Federal government have had experience with the same types of issues that Presidents deal with, but Governorship is not in any way similar to Presidency, especially Governorship of a state with a smaller population than Austin, Texas.

That being said, Palin is an evil bitch, and is not qualified to be human.

And she's UGLY. Wtf is wrong with people?! How can anybody find her attractive? I just don't get it.

I am baffled by how much hatred is being directed at her. By all accounts she is doing the work of multiple people: she hold the executive position in the largest state in the country, raises five children one of which is special needs (I will admit they have horrible names), is a marathon runner, and still cooks for her family during part of the year. She may be bad with speeches and debates, but being super-productive counts for character points too and that she has in spades.

For those of you that hate her, what has she done that makes her such an awful person in spite of her good qualities?

Using the phrase 'in charge of the senate' for a position that is president of the senate to a third grader is not egregious. Yes she is qualified to be a mother and a PTA member and maybe worked her way into governing a few people. I am able to do all the above if I wanted. Maybe I will be nominated the next VP in 4 years. YAY!

I'm not sure if you're trying to say something about the VP's role, but, as it says, the VP has the ability to cast a tie breaking vote in the Senate, and is also called the President of the Senate, a role which has no defined rights or privileges.

I checked into this and found the state of Alaska does not do this, there was a bill passed in 2000 in Alaska that would bill the state for rape kits instead of the victims health insurance, but no victim was ever asked to pay for one. Rather than the picture some questionable journalists have painted of a cold governor demanding rape victims be billed, the truth of the matter is that someone pointed out in 2000 that hospitals did this and it was quickly changed.

I am not sure why this is controversial. Shooting something from a tree stand is far less sporting than from a loud fast-moving vehicle. This sounds kind of cool.

Maybe not a hot topic. But something I care about. Hunting animals from helicopters is often done in the months where there are no leaves on the trees. You give the animal no chance of escape and they have no where to hide.
Plus, why are they killing wolves anyway? Because Palin put a bounty on any leg of a wolf that was killed.
I don't agree with hunting in the first place, but that is not what this thread is about.

That's all fair. But like what's-his-name said, it's like a bad Disney movie. Hockey mom from Alaska becomes vice president. If the job is as useless as has been described, she'll be the one baking cookies, organizing the kid's routines, packing lunch for her man, and then making sure everyone is tucked in at the end of the day. In this respect, she is perfectly qualified.

However...Cheney has changed the role of V.P, for good or ill, and now it's a different sort of gig. And I'm sure Gore wasn't sitting around thinking up excuses for his boss' bad behaviour. He was probably thinking up clever campaign soundbites...which gives pause to a hole new set of problems. Suppose that McCain wins. He won't do two terms, will he? Who's the obvious choice to succeed him?

She isn't qualified to operate a stapler, and my bet is she isn't qualified to operate the White House switchboard either. If McCain does win, his first priority is to send his VP on a fact-finding mission in the Antarctic for six months. Alone, with no means of communication with the outside world.

As for Obama's lack of experience, I'll take a Harvard Constitutional law scholar over a beauty pageant winner any day.
